| A good lady friend of mine asked me a day or two ago where she should go to shoot around Mobile, both for practice and for socializing. Whatcha say, folks? She's looking for friendly, clean, nice, spacious, not impossibly crowded but where she might meet a nice looking guy or two. |

I believe the Styx range is no longer owned by the Mobile Shooting Center folks. There is also the Pascagoula Shooting Club just over the Alabama-Mississippi state line. It's a much nicer range than any of the others around Mobile. |

Call Mobile shooting center. They have a range over in Baldwin county - Styx River area. There's also Steve's gun shop, and also a range in Saraland. ( not sure of the name) The indoor range in Saraland used to be named Steve's Gun Shop also, but it has since changed names. I think there is a range at the Gold Mine Pawn Shop on Hwy 98 in Daphne. Styx River Shooting Center in Loxley |

I believe the Styx range is no longer owned by the Mobile Shooting Center folks. I was in Mobile shooting center Monday. The young lady who was there said her mother ran the range at Styx. Whether or not they own it - I don't have a clue - it really doesn't matter. I was simply directing the OP there. |

That must have been Ashley you spoke with. I stopped using them for my FFL when a friend of mine became a FFL. So, it's been a while since I've spoken with them. The last I head, they were selling Styx off to someone else. I have nothing bad to say about the Mobile Shooting Center or the owners, but I would never send anyone over to the Styx range. That place sucks. Too many restrictions, too small and they seem to primarily cater to hunters and game shotgunners aka Fudds. Quoted:

No Tannerite. No machine guns. No 200, 600 and 1000 yard ranges. You aren't given a key so you can come and go as you please. I've been spoiled after joining the PSC. Quoted: What restrictions? No rapid fire sucks I guess but thats all I can think of |

All these things are true. I don't have a machine gun, don't shoot tannerite, and can't shoot worth a damn so it is ok for me haha!
Actually I prefer to shoot at the WMA range that is twice as far away since I'm usually alone and don't have to wait to go check my targets and can shoot other things as long as i clean up and dont get caught I guess! But there you have to shoot through those damn tunnels.... |

I drive over there from Pensacola. Styx River beats the hell out of the other ranges over here (100 yards max for rifles, 15 yds only for pistol, 1 shot every 3 seconds). They have less rapid fire restrictions than the other range I went to in Pensacola.
I usually pick up some reloading components while I am there also. Last time I was there, Mobile Shooting Center had sold it. The new owner was freindly and still honored the existing memberships. |
