Anyone know of a good place in Phoenix for me to get some new tires?  2004 Harley Sportster.

Thanks

If you aren't going to order them online (which is cheaper), just go to cycle gear.  Last option is the dealer.

Cyclegear was the cheapest option I found 6 months ago.  In-store didn't have my size (hard to find 160/80), and I found it was slightly cheaper ordering from their website than special-ordering from the store.  Got them 5 days later with free shipping, and had the Cyclegear store mount and balance them for me ($20).

That may be the best option, as I found tires online for about $60-$70 and for $20 to mount sounds like a good deal.

Was it $20 for front and $20 for rear?

Thanks for the answers.

Sometimes it depends on who you talk to.  Most of the time it is $20 each.  The catch, however, is that you have to remove the wheels from the bike for them to offer this service.  If you don't have the stands/equipment, or know someone who does, they won't install the tires for you.

Our local HD dealer price matches.  I call up Cycles Skis and Atvs and get a price and then go over to the HD store.  They always match, no questions asked.

Yep, it was $20 per wheel/tire.  As someone else mentioned, they don't remove the wheels from your bike, you have to bring the wheels in already off the bike.  They aren't a mechanic/shop, they're a retail store with a tire mount/balancer in the back.  Also, I think the price was higher if you bought the tires from somewhere else.

It was by far the cheapest option for me, but I can't speak to other, more popular tire sizes.  At the time, I called all around, and only the Wheel Shop and my dealer had my size rear tire, and even paying $40 extra for Cycle Gear to mount/balance, I still saved $150.  For $150, I was more than happy to remove the wheels myself.

What do you mean by bullshit? Are you saying that it’s BS that Harley would try to stick me for $800 or are you saying that I’m lying and I’m talking bullshit? Just asking.

I can smell it.

Lets say I called 5 minutes ago and priced tires for a 2003 Fatboy.  The  mounted, balanced, installed, disposal fee, etc. price out the door, is $540.  Wide whites would add about $50.

The $800 gold plated tires are discontinued.

Interesting thread.......dont know where that $800 number came from but.......I just happen to have stopped at The Wheel Shop and remembered this thread.....Prices from The Wheel Shop for Stock Dunlap "Harley Branded" Factory tires for a 2004 sportster,Oh-and i will say they dont have different quotes for different folks, one price for all,i know them well, been using them for 20 years +....

2004 Sporty size Factory Dunlap"Harley Branded" tires,
Sporty front tire installed on Bike(includes removal,mounting,balancing,etc..)  $137.00 + tax out the door !!
Sporty rear tire installed on bike (includes removal,mounting,balancing,etc..)  $193.00 + tax out the door !!

Total out the door price installed on Bike is $330.00+tax for both tires...if tubes are needed add $35.00 for two tubes installed.for $365.00 total.
Not even close to $800 !!!

Can one find tires online for less?..Yes they can, reason you ask, because they are tires that have been laying around in a warehouse for too long and never sold.Understand, tire warranty's are only good for 6 years from date of manufacture and END on the 6th year of manufacture, any new tires bought at 6 years of manufacture or past that have no warranty from manufacturer!! Those are generally the tires sold online for less, same goes for automotive tires.Tire failure is higher in older "NEW",tires with older manufacturer date.Tires might have a longer shelf life than your Tuna Salad, but they too will eventually lose their "freshness' and go south!
When it comes to Motorcycle tires, you only have two !  Dont go cheap, thats your life your playing with,is saving $150 dollars worth losing your life? NO,pay the extra $150,get a GOOD set of tires and enjoy your life ! We have enough issues riding a Motorcycle, dont add to it by being cheap !
