| Need some advice guys. I will be moving to the dfw area in the near future. I travel a lot so need to be fairly close to the airport. Any recommendations on where to live and where to avoid? |

I grew up on the west side of the airport in Colleyville (CHHS Class of 2002). I got the heck out of that whole corner of town. Avoid everything east of the airport (Dallas county in general), especially South East. Maybe not ALL of the east... Due east of the airport, like the Northern part of Irving is OK, as is valley Ranch, or Farmers Branch. SSW is Hurst, Euless, and Bedford, known locally as "HEB", mostly OK. We would need to know if you have kids and a square foot and price range to narrow it down... but mostly the N / NW / W is going to be the best place to start. |

If I had a job at the airport, or had to be close to it, I would look just North / NW of the airport in the bedroom communities like Coppell, Flower Mound, or Colleyville/Southlake (If you can swing the $$$) would be your best bet. A close second would be Keller or Lewisville. Grapevine is OK too. Avoid everything east of the airport (Dallas county in general), especially South East. Maybe not ALL of the east... What are you looking for, OP? What is important to you? We are quite close to the Alliance Town Center in Keller and really like it. I work just south of DFW airport and it takes me about 25 mins to get here. Granted, that's at 8:30 at night. |

Quoted: I'm looking for a safe neighborhood, 1500 square feet or bigger, preferably with a garage. It's just me and my dog so I'm pretty flexible. Pretty much anything on my list could meet that. You will most likely want to look outside Colleyville and Southlake as both will have larger than average homes, and higher property taxes. If you get into HEB there are no so much "bad" neighborhoods as older neighborhoods that are getting more "diverse"... but nothing that could come close to being called "the ghetto" ... but in Coppell, Flower Mound, Keller... I cannot think of a single neighborhood that I would not be willing to live in. There are some interesting parts of Grapevine... but nothing "bad". Maybe do some online looking to check out sizes and price ranges. Feel free to PM me with houses that you are looking at in MLS and I can give you an idea. That way you have a good targeted list if you ever come down to do some house hunting. |
| I lived in Hurst for a while over by Bell helicopter. It wasn't bad. I didn't like our hoa and my first wife bitched there were too many Muslim/Indians, but I never got that vibe. She had a closet drinking problem and I don't think there were enough bars to suit her so she insisted we move back to Dallas. |

You could look at Roanoke as well. It is within 20 minutes of the airport. Right next door is Trophy Club, where we have Freedom Park for dogs. Roanoke has a nice "small town feel" and has some great restaurants. It would be a great place to live as would Trophy Club, which is more land locked with excellent neighborhoods, but lacks the commercial development of Roanoke. Both will get you to DFW Airport in 20 minutes. |

That she just dropped out of another rehab program? |
