| If it's an SKS you're looking for, Welcher's has probably the nicest looking Yugo I've ever seen sitting on the rack. I don't normally try to go there but I gotta say that rifle was sweet. My vote for a good shop down south though is Bullseye. Any other reason besides price making you want a Kel-Tec? You can always get more money, so don't let budget affect you're decision too much in risk of short changing yourself. |

Lets see, make sure i cover everything. have I have not had the opportunity to shoot an AK, SKS or 10/22. They would be for home protection, but also just to take shooting when I go. I wanted an AR until I say some of the AK's with AR style stocks. Those are just sweet. |
Ive got an opinion for you :) find some Buffalo Trace Burbon, its great for the price. I am told you cannot get it up here any longer |

Of all your choices I am going to suggest a 10/22. As a trainer and on your obviously low budget it is the best choice for the money. I can't express enough how integral a good .22 is in any arsenal. Resist the urge to buy all the whiz bang gadgets that make it look cool but will not help you become a better shooter. The ammo is inexpensive and laughably so at the moment, you can fire it at any indoor ranges, and it WILL make you a better shot for when you buy a "real" rifle. Original magazines and butler creek "steel lips" magazines have all been close to infallible in my 10/22 rifle and I would not sell it for a lot of money. |
I have had nothing but good luck with the EAGLE 30rd mags. at 6.99 from CDNN you cant pass them up. I happen to have a Keltec P3AT... Its an interesting pocket gun... it has never failed to go bang. |
I got a Kel Tech 380 and am very pleased with it, 100% reliable, pretty accurate, recoil less than it seems it should be for the size. Sure its not a HK or a Seecamp or whatever but its a decent little gun.....for the use its ment for

| I have a 22 lever action, but I havent shot it in years. It needs to be given the once over to make sure all is well. So it looks like I will pick up a 10/22 and the Kel-Tec for the pocket. I know its small, but as its often been said, its better than a box of rocks |
Saiga 7.62 x 39s run in the high $200s. But if I remember right, you'll spend another $50 on a bullet guide/magwell if you want it to use regular AK mags instead of Saiga mags. |

Look guy, you're talking about waaaaaay different guns. All have different purposes, ranges, and cost of ownership. SKS vs a 10/22? C'mon. What do you want to do with this firearm? If you have a budget of under 500, get the 10/22 and a bunch of 22 long and go plink some cans. Spend the rest on a firearms safety course. I can tell you have not been to Mary's if you think sportsmans has good prices on 54r ammo for a Mosin. |
| Your right, I am looking at different guns. Just looking at what people thing should be in a collection. The SKS, and AK are just becaue really. I already have a 12 gauge for home defense, just looking for some other things to play with. Cost of ownership I understand, but just becuase i have it doesnt mean i take it out every time. This list is diverse. I have taken some firearms safty already, and plan to take more in the spring. |
| Well, after finding that something like the CZ existed and thinking about the apt living, i think I am going to go with that over the SKS. I am not a big fan of getting long guns in and out of the apt because it could get people too interested in what I might have. So I think I will get that and the 10/22 for now...and an AK with side folding stock next. |
