I am mentally putting together a mid-length build, and in my search for what I wanted to use for a muzzle brake, I found this review which other might find useful.

www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=49684

While the PWS Comp looked good and the FCS556 looked even better, I have a real hard time reconcilling spending $100 on a muzzle brake. Obviously, the main down fall of muzzle brakes is the noise and blast. The above review rates the RRA Tac Brake as better in terms of both than the PWS brake and at half the cost. Frankly, I think it looks better too. I will most likely go with it for my next build.

Anyone with any first hand knowledge on other brakes, i.e. Troy Medieval or YHM Phantom, etc feel free to post your experiences.

Just because we have stupid laws doesn't mean we have to have lame looking rifles

I have the Troy Medieval and it's money well spent. No complaints about it except for all the times I have stabbed myself or a wall with it. The blast is something your shooting buddies will thank you for

I take it then that the blast is negligable?

I just shot my PWS FSC556 this weekend alongside several M4's with the standard A2 flash hiders and the increase in sound was marginal while the muzzle flip stayed in check.  My buddy, who absolutely HATES muzzle brakes, was impressed by the FSC556.  I would highly recommend it to others in ban states like myself doing a post ban build.  It's money well spent.

Since you mentioned a mid-length, you might want to give Denny's Guns/GTS a call and ask if he's still selling the 16" LMT uppers for $450 instead of $485.  I bought my 14.5" upper and FSC556 from Denny and he did a great job pinning it (no extra cost).

I'm getting a Holland soon. Will let you know, if interested.

Wanted to get the FSC556 but couldn't 'cause it's aluminum. The Holland is getting welded on....
