Short and sweet.

What do you all think is the best muzzle break to get rid of muzzle rise for the AR?

Thanks

Yes there are "better" can's out there, but this is your best bet  Give Pat a call and he'll take care of ya.

Now if you really didn't want the best thing for the job- don't worry.  It's an AR, muzzle rise is minimal, if it's too much look at something like this:

Is that legal in Oregon?

Guess I should have put legal or no FFL type license required.

Pat?

It's legal in Oregon as long as you pay the tax and get the stamp of approval.

Pat is the owner of Oregon Research Labs, LLC. He can do NFA transfers and has a good reputation.

Is there a website or a number I can call Pat at?

Primary Weapon Systems DNTC Compensator is the best I've used and seen in use.

All reports have the PRI MSTN QC Brake being very good too, I don't have any hands on experience with it though.

It'll be the first result you get when you google it or second result when you yahoo it. His phones might be off and on right now because of the weather.

If you can, opt for the FSC556. It's as good of a break as the DNTC but is a flashhider as well so it doesn't produce the massive fireball as the DNTC

I have a DNTC and like it, but others seem to be rated better.

Are you having a tough time taming the awesome recoil of the 5.56mm round?

Seriously, combined with the gas system and recoil buffer/spring - there's not much to deal with.

I just want to get back on target as soon as possible.  I want to do the Gas Piston system as soon as I can afford it.  Until then anything will help out.

I have a wilson brake on one of my rifles and it has been good to me.

It isn't "the best" per se since it isn't really designed for gun games but the sights stay on target while I'm shooting so that's a win in my book.

I'm sure there are more efficient ones in the 3-gun world.

I got a PWS to test and I was very very impressed with it.  Noise wasn't terrible and it took what little recoil my 223 AR had and made it go bye bye.  It was very weird to shoot, I thought I didn't put enough powder in my loads.  Very cool.  Follow up shots were quick and easy.

A proper stance and grip will eliminate any muzzle rise.  No brake needed.

You really don't want to break the muzzle on your rifle - it won't shoot well.
