I will take the money I save building my own PC and buy a new gun or two with the money I saved over buying an Apple. If I could build what I have, I'd do it. Not possible, currently :) I don't want some shitty PC... been there, done that! Wake me up when you have something important to say. |

Glock case propping up the monitor? Also dat Logitech MX-518! I have one as well. I used a MX510 for many years... Since about BF1942. Current set up is G510 Keyboard, G13 Gameboard, and a G5 laser mouse, been using that for a long time now and have no plans on changing. |

Am I about to witness a Mac vs. PC slap fight? Not really it would be a lot like a Mac bringing a knife to a gun fight. Macs are not my thing. If I need to do video editing or publishing I will get a Mac, Honestly IMHO they are not good for much else. They are WAAAAY over priced for what you get. Everything or almost everything is proprietry with a Mac and I cannot stand that. In the end Dave you will never convince me that a mac is overall better than a PC. I would be interested in hearing 5 or so reason why you thing they are though. |

That is the truth. Need to upgrade? Drop $3500. again and again and again.......... Jobs may have been a visionary but not the grand poobah that ome have made him out to be. I own two apple products. A 20gb Ipod and an 80gb I pod. I only have them because I like the menu system. This will be slowly phased out by by a superior product a Galaxy S3 with Android. Oh and Siri is a whore.

I really could care a less about changing anyones mind... if they want to use an inferior product, I won't stop them :)
In all seriousness... I think you should actually own one before you rule them out. So many people I know are anti-Mac or anti-Apple and they have never owned a Mac. I have owned both and Mac's are definitely superior. The only area I have found that PC's are better is simply for gaming. Mac's simply do not have the same superior selection of games available. You CAN upgrade RAM and Harddrives in Mac's. Mac's are superior for virus protection. It really doesn't have much to do with the fact that "no one cares about Mac's". That simply isn't true. The operating system that MacOSX is built on (Unix) is a superior product and is built from the ground up for security. Most virus-makers are not capable of successfully building viruses that can penetrate MacOSX properly, because the default protection is 100x harder to crack than on Windows. There ARE viruses for Mac's... the most common ones are only able to get in through Windows products like Office for Mac, etc. The only other major ones that can even get in is if you install their fake programs because it's too hard to penetrate a Mac. I've never spent $3500 on a Mac. My iMac I have now was $1199. Even the top-end are under $2k. The newest MacBookPro's are $2199 and those have technology you can't even get on a PC. Mac's do not have the issues a PC has. On my previous PCs, I got errors all the time, .DLL errors, BSOD, etc. I never have had one error or one blue screen of death. Ever. I run a very successful business and I do it on a Mac. I tried on a PC and it was so much more painful. Not to mention the superior integration between my iMac, MacBookPro, iPhone, iPod, iPad. I highly recommend you actually OWN a Mac before ruling them out :) |

I've actually owned dozens of PCs before ever owning a Mac, so I can actually say I have thoroughly compared the two. I've also owned several iPhones and Android phones to properly compare the two and the iPhone is clearly a superior phone. |

No, Not enough Macs out there for anybody writing a virus to care, that is the truth. Even if I use your logic... it still says that Mac's are safer and more secure because there are less viruses around that could compromise the system. So if there are 60% less viruses available because I am on a Mac platform, I am 60% safer/less likely to catch a virus and thereby more secure. Of course it's relative, but still less likely to get a virus ;) |

Those HP Touchpads were soooo much cheaper!! Yeah I have some buddies overseas on third-world countries that told me horror stories about the internet where they're operating at. It's all relative... most people hate Mac's and have used one for 5 minutes of their lives. I know Mac users that hate PCs but never used one... I prefer to buy the best that money can buy and I happen to love the user experience of a Mac over a PC. I'd rather buy Apple. I love the integration between all my devices as well. I couldn't run my business on a PC so that plays a huge role in my thought process as well. To each their own. :) |

mac vs pc debates are a touch subject on arfcom...
really they are just an OS I have tried windows, linux (shortly) and osx I was a really hardcore pc guy i had build a few of my own knew the ins and out of that os. So well enough that if i got BSOD I would have known how to fix it. one think i didn't prefer on the pc's is "regular maintenance" scan disk and defraig. you had to do it or schedule it around when you were not going to be on the thing. Windows does have more games if you are a gamer i played a lot when i was younger but i just got a console. around when i was into games vid cards were ever changing like every 3 months. just to have the latest and greatest. my buddy bought a all white ibook think it was a g4. he let me play with it for a while and it seemed pretty intuitive. things are different yes, but the different things i happen to like in the os features. i eventually went mac. about 1 every 5 years or so. my last one lasted a year before, a tour in iraq and is still kicking if i want to fire it up, the battery is dead but it still works off the charger. you also can't say that they are not good for anything else but video production. mine are general purpose. i have also replaced a couple business websites off of a mac. you still can have your MS office. I personally don't care what os i use i would switch back to windows if they have a version that impressed me, i am not one of those closed minded apple freaks. Use what works for you and your purposes. |

Are you seriously comparing a phone released weeks ago to a phone released almost a year ago? :) See how it stacks up against the new iPhone 5 (or whatever it'll be called) in 2 months. |

Quoted: you found the seal-tec! lol.. I've posted photos before in the Ham Radio forum. I'll have to see if I can dig it up, cause right now, the command center is strewn with junk, firearm parts, and orange roasted nuts chamber flags. ![]() ETA: Ahh...fuck. Here's an older one, but still plenty of "junk" in the pic. lol.. http://i46.tinypic.com/13zzuc2.jpg Triple monitors. Main computer is a homebrew Intel i7, 12GB ram, ~1TB Sata 6.0 mirror, with more storage offsite/remote/elsewhere. Windows 7. Second machine is a Proliant ML370, mostly as a test bed. On the shelf is a Signalink USB soundcard interface, to connect the comuter to the Ham rig. Ham rig is a Yaesu FT-857D, Ameritron AL-811H Amp (~800 watts), Antenna tuner, and watt meter. And of course, a Hitachi SDP 2830 for when I feel like spinning some vinyl, or throwing in an 8 track. Yeah....SHTF....Command and Control is fully intact at the NAM household. Worldwide comm. So...anyone else want to try to take that "command center" title away? ![]() ![]() |

PC vs Apple debates are always funny.
I use PC, mostly becasue of cost. But I haven't had anybody tell me SolidWorks (my main cad software I use at work) works better on an apple. It now finally works, but not better. Apple products are very good. I've used Iphones and macs, although I've never owned either. I really dislike the apple world. The apple people irritate the crap out of me. When I first got my HTC Evo 4G an apple guy asked me (with zero prompting form me) 'Name one thing that is better on your HTC than my iphone' I told him the screen was bigger. he proceeded to berate me about how no one needs a screen that big, that if apple thought we needed screens that big, they would make the iphone with a screen that big, etc. etc. So, that pretty much solidified my opinion on Apple people. I know that is a gross generalization, and there are exceptions. But I've found the exceptions to be rare. |

Pcs are more expandable where macs are mire proprietry. I hate proprietry. That just leaves the os for the most part. How do PCs stomp Mac's on hardware? Mac's are built using the same hardware available in PCs. You can get tons of different configurations (hardware). It's not about being proprietary, it's about integration and seamless user experience. Because Apple builds their products using specific hardware, and also creates their own operating system, it gives them the ability to build the OS around specific hardware for a tighter integration and a more seamless user experience with less problems. I agree that PCs have more customization capabilities when it comes to switching out hardware on a whim, but I don't really see that as an issue as we just purchase Mac's with good hardware and they're good to go for 5 years no questions asked. They also save a ton of money when in use on a corporate scale, in my experience. It's just one of those things, it's like Glock vs 1911, etc. Ford vs Dodge, etc. Everyone has their own preference. |
