Well, let me say I now know how my parents felt when my brother and I left for the Corps.  My son Nick, left last Sunday for Paris Island and one week later and I find him constantly in my thoughts.  He has a strong mind and will and I think he will be just fine, but still a father has to worry a little.

Here's a few pics:

Age 9, first dove hunt, he did good.

OK, I'll skip his first squirrel, rabbit, duck, turkey, and post this pic of him at age 16 with his favorite toy.

I've taken him to a couple of the CE shoots, book and a few others have met him.  I had to install that forward grip after he saw book's M4.

Very proud I am and thanks.

Congrats!  He'll do quite fine!  Relax and enjoy the moment.

And, of course, plan for the next group shooting when he stops by.

I could only imagine mine leaving for something like that.  The mix between being proud of him as a person but wanting him to stay as a father.  Best of luck to him and you and yours.

Paris Island is the anvil, the Marines the hammer.  You sent a boy away and he is now being forged into a MAN.

Congrats, I know you are a proud papa.

Please thank him for his service.

He was a really nice kid when I met him.  Next time I see him he'll be an even better man.

My buddy Kurt left Paris last December.  He just shipped off to Hawaii, where he'll be stationed for two years.  When Kurt came home from Paris he was a changed person.  And for the better in many ways.

He'll be just fine.

You should be very proud.

P806 - Be proud. Your son has taken the BIGGEST step anyone can take towards becoming not only a man, but a person of honor, integrity, and character. That is something that should make you INCREDIBLY proud.

Thank him for his service.

The happiest day of my life was seeing my mother at my graduation from basic training.  Nothing matters more to a young soldier (or in this case a young Marine) than knowing their parents are proud of what they are doing.  He'll stick his chest out a little farther when he thinks about how much you love him.
