If you go to a NC DMV for replacement of a lost driver's license, do you leave with the replacement license or do they mail it to you?

They give you a paper copy that looks like a post card then they mail you the new in ten days.

you can order one online also. but yep paper copy and OL will come in the mail in 5-7 days.

they mail it so you'll have incentive to give them a valid address, it if comes back undeliverable, well no license for you because it went back to the DMV

Information was spot on, but I will expand on the reasons why. It was not unusual to have one or two NC drivers license machines stolen from DMV offices every year. You could then print "real" false NC OL's that would only be identifiable on the street by the machine number on the OL. Even then it could be a real real OL that was made before the machine was stolen.
