I recently recieved a NH Pistol/Revolver license and I have a question about carrying the actual license on my person. The license itself is printed on a rather flimsy piece of paper (roughly 3.5x6"), and I am concerned about carrying the original document on my person and it's durability. Would it be acceptable to photocopy the original, and carry the copy on my person? Or do i need to carry the original?

A photo copy would be fine. I have copies that I keep in my tackle box as well as when I ride my mountain bike. Last I knew there was no requirement to have it (the actual license) on your person but it is a good idea to at least have a copy of it.

ETA: the non res licenses are issued by NHSP so I'm sure they'd make a note in their computer records of it being issued in case you didn't carry it on you. I know locally they have notes in the local PD dispatch systems about them.

i went to staples and had mine laminated it cost me $2,  the first time i did it the girl behind the counter looked at and gave me a funny look and said nothing, but the last few times it seemed as though they had seen them many times. i folded it up and put it in my wallet after about a day in there it flattens out and its water proof in case my wallet ever goes through the laundry which has happened and led me to start having my ccw permit laminated as soon as i get a new one every time

Huh....at least for our $100, NH gives us non-residents, a plastic, credit card, sized permit.

Of course, the printer used to produce fancy plastic card is the reason why NH DoS was justifying the lengthy turn-around time back when I got mine.

Not a NH resident (I have the NH NR cc permit) and IANAL, but if it were me I would photo reduce it to cc size and laminate it, carry it in my wallet. That's what I did with my PA NR license, which was also flimsy paper in a large size . . . but I did ask the issuing Sheriff in PA and he said doing that was just fine.

I agree, the plastic card is much nicer than flimsy paper.

I applied for mine in like mid January of 2009. I received the permit in mid to late April.

My understanding is that local issuing authorities in NH tend to do a pretty good job abiding by the statutory processing time. Between the issue time, minimal cost, and ability to laminate on your own for a couple bucks, you've got about the best deal out there as far as permits go.

That's what I did too. Copy and laminate the full size and stick at laminated CC size version of it in my wallet.

ETA: the full size one is in my car with the registration and proof of insurance.
