I just bought a Ruger SP101 snubbie and it is badly in need of a trigger job.  Any recommendations for a good revolver gunsmith in Northern Nevada?

I've had good luck with a Wolff spring kit, polishing of mating surfaces in the action, and a couple drops of lube. Will cost you about 10 bucks and some elbow grease. Dry firing about 2000 times helps a lot.

That said, gunsmif trigger jobs can be pretty slick too.

Good luck with whatever you decide. SP101's are good little revolvers.

I've used Wolff Springs on a couple of S&W Revolvers along with a little stoning and it's worked fine.  I have a couple of Rugers and they just seem to be a bit rougher out of the box than a S&W.  I took this one out to break it in and put 100 or so rounds through it in short order.  It was hot enough that you wouldn't want to hold the cylinder or barrel too long in a bare hand and that's when it started locking up in SA.  You can pull through it in DA, so I'd guess there's a little high spot that needs some polishing but I'd feel more comfortable with a good wheel gun smith who knows what he looking for to go find that issue and fix it.

I would probably want a pro to diagnose that issue also. A little more complex than just improving the trigger feel.

I normally refer my transfer customers to J&G Gunsmithing in Reno.

Andy has done some excellent barrel threading for me and all the feedback from people that I send to him has been positive.

I would give him a call at 775-826-4802 and ask him about your revolver work.

I don't know that I have met anyone better at revolver work.

Thanks - I'll give them both a call this week.
