I need it, but have relatively high income.  I work for an out of state employer, doing software development.

Prices seem high here.  What do you guys use?

I'm in Monroe County, and, so far, HealthNow is leading the pack.

Thanks.

Does Healthnow offer a high deductible version of their HMO plan?  Can I negotiate the deductible with these companies?  I just need, like, catastrophic, car accident, swine flu, asteroid strike coverage.  I can handle runny noses on my own.

Let me know if you still need it.  I hand health insurance primarily for NJ, however may be able to help you out or point you in the right direction with NY.

shoot me a pm or email me, maksimfa@gmail . com

Try your local Chamber of Commerce.  I had the health insurance for myself and staff for years through the local Chamber of Commerce, all it did was give you the lower "group rate" with a Syracuse broker for Blue Cross.

Thanks for the tips, guys.

Rochester Chamber of Commerce is well known for having a group benefit of some kind, but I can't join it as an individual.

What I did find was basic catastrophic coverage through Excellus for a bit under 500 a month.  That's not great, but it's less than half of what HMO coverage would be, so that's what I'm going to go with, if the coverage limits and such check out.

Thanks again.

500 for catastrophic? Sounds high? I do think our c of c made me give them a tax return to prove I was self employed a few years ago because people were sneaking (like they couldn,t just gin up a fake tax return anyway)
