Oppose --- A-3371 and A-2466 More AWB - needs to go to the senate and assembly
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear [ASSEMBLYMEMBER OR SENATOR],

This letter is my statement of opposition to the proposed New York State gun control bills A-3371 and A-2466.  As a law-abiding resident of New York State, U.S. citizen, registered voter, and gun owner, I am appalled at yet another move to infringe upon the rights of legal gun owners. It is my belief as well as the belief of many other New York residents that the classification and banning of rifles defined in both of these bills is unconstitutional; and is in direct violation of the
Second Amendment. I am opposed to laws that incorrectly classify certain semi-automatic firearms as "assault weapons" based upon looks and functionality. I am opposed to laws that say I cannot own such a firearm. I am opposed to laws that will allow the State to confiscate and destroy legally owned firearms because the State doesn't approve of the way they look. I am opposed to laws that would make me register my rifle, that is currently legal to own, with a ballistic database, that does nothing but waste the tax payers' money. I am opposed to laws that force me to forgo my basic constitutional rights in order to instill a false sense of security in the community.

Law-abiding citizens have a right to possess the same firearms accessible to law-enforcement. Our Second Amendment gives us this right. The Second Amendment is not, and never has been, about shooting ducks, deer, clay targets or tin cans; it's about personal defense, homeland security, and resisting tyranny.

These anti-gun bills target the rights of law-abiding citizens and are an attempt to eventually rid New York State of all legally owned firearms. Furthermore, these bills do absolutely nothing to prevent crime; instead, they will leave law-abiding citizens in a defenseless state. To support these bills, or any other bill that attempts to infringe upon our constitutional rights, is disgraceful; and a slap in the face of every man and woman that sacrificed their life trying to protect what this
country stands for.

I urge you to oppose each of these bills. I will do my very best to ensure that those who support these bills are not re-elected.

Thank you for you time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

I can be reached via email at [YOUR EMAIL].

Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]

Oppose --- A-4471 and S-2590  Bans 50 cal rifles - needs to go to the senate and assembly
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear [ASSEMBLYMEMBER OR SENATOR],

This letter is my statement of opposition to the proposed New York
State gun control bills A-4471 and S-2590 which attempt to ban .50
caliber rifles.

As a law-abiding resident of New York State, U.S. citizen, registered
voter, and gun owner, I am appalled at yet another move to infringe
upon the rights of legal gun owners.

It is my belief as well as the belief of many other New York residents
that the banning of rifles defined in both of these bills is
unconstitutional; and is in direct violation of the Second Amendment.

These bills target legitimate gun owners rather than criminals and
terrorists. Criminals and terrorists, by their very nature, are not
affected by these laws. Furthermore, the argument that terrorists are
buying these rifles to use on American soil is nothing more than a
scare tactic that is being used to manipulate the citizens of this
country into supporting legislation that violates Second Amendment
Rights.

The argument that these rifles should be banned because some feel that
they have no "legitimate sporting purpose" is unconstitutional,
because the Second Amendment is not, and never has been, about
shooting ducks, deer, clay targets or tin cans; it's about personal
defense, homeland security, and resisting tyranny.

These anti-gun bills target the rights of law-abiding citizens and are
an attempt to eventually rid New York State of all legally owned
firearms and do absolutely nothing to prevent crime. To support these
bills, or any other bill that attempts to infringe upon our
constitutional rights, is disgraceful; and a slap in the face of every
man and woman that sacrificed their life trying to protect what this
country stands for.

I urge you to oppose each of these bills. I will do my very best to
ensure that those who support these bills are not re-elected.

Thank you for you time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Oppose --- A-2837 Amor-peircing ammo and frangible ammo - needs to go to the senate and assembly
------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear [ASSEMBLYMEMBER OR SENATOR],

This letter is my statement of opposition to the proposed New York State gun control bill A-2837, which would make it a crime to possess so-called armor-piercing or frangible ammunition. As a law-abiding resident of New York State, U.S. citizen, registered voter, and gun owner, I am appalled at yet another move to infringe upon the rights of legal gun owners.

Current law already outlaws the use of “armor-piercing” ammunition in handguns. This new bill would remove the “handgun” clause, resulting in the ban of all hunting rounds that are used in rifles. It further proposes the ban of frangible ammunition. Frangible ammunition is designed to break apart upon impact, thus reducing the chance of ricochets and/or over penetration. In a situation where an individual is using such ammunition for self-defense, the chances of a round penetrating a wall and harming others is greatly reduced. Frangible ammo is ideal for marksmanship training for both indoor and outdoor ranges. It is the safest full-power training ammo for police and military shooters, civilian range owners and casual shooters.

The only thing this bill will accomplish is outlawing the use of firearms for hunting, target shooting, and most importantly self defense. These anti-gun bills target the rights of law-abiding citizens and are an attempt to eventually rid New York State of all legally owned firearms and do absolutely nothing to prevent crime.

I urge you to oppose each of these bills. I will do my very best to ensure that those who support these bills are not re-elected.

Thank you for you time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Support --- S 397 Needs to go to the house and senate (refered to HR800 in the house)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear [HOUSEMEMBER or SENATOR],

This purpose of this letter is to urge you to support S-397, "The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act", which was introduced in the U.S Senate this year. As you know, this legislation would protect law-abiding firearm manufacturers from reckless, predatory, and potentially bankrupting lawsuits. I ask that you support this bill without any anti-gun amendments and put a halt to these reckless lawsuits once and for all. Please note that I consider any votes in support of anti-gun amendments to this legislation as votes against the bill itself.

I assure you that if you support this bill without any anti-gun amendments I will do my best to support you on other pieces of legislation, so long as they do not infringe upon my Second Amendment rights.

Thank you for you time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

I can be reached via email at [YOUR EMAIL].

Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
[YOUR CITY AND STATE]

Did you see the article in the New York Times Sunday Paper on the AWB. The VPC people are really trying to Fuck us over and that is after it was shown that removing it has not made a dam bit of difference in the sale or violent acts.
They said all it did when Clinton made the AWB was increase the price of Mags and clips for pistols. It also said that Colt is not going to go back and sell to the private sector. That Colt is backlogged with Military orders. Not sure where that is coming from, but I think that info is wrong. They also interviewed DPMS in the article.

We still got one in NY and they barely pointed it out. Most people in NY would be shocked to learn we still have one. I would love to see a head line that say "Hey NY still has an "Assault Weapons Ban".

S2445 is not dead, it has not even been voted on.  What failed was Senator Schneiderman's petition to discharge in an attempt to force it out of the Codes Committee.  The committee could still vote to move it to the floor just like they did in the Assembly.  It isn't dead until either the Senate adjurns for the year without any action on it or it is brought to the floor and voted down.

It was my understanding that if he lost his motion to petition, then the bill is dead and he would have to re-write the bill and give it a new number and start again

I just looked it up and you are correct. Looks like we still have to fight this one

Do you think this should be banned? My understanding is that this ammo is used for training, self defense without the risk of over penetration, and it is better for ranges because it does not have the problems associated with lead.

Banning Frangible ammo goes hand in hand with all the other weapons bans.  We have a Bunch of people who are ill informed/ and Politicians with self serving goals, trying to force thier beliefs on the rest of us.
