I was bored today so i took a drive up to Llanrhaiadr to see the famous waterfall ( Biggest in England and Wales don't you know ! )

Anyway that doesnt matter, I was on my way back travelling on the B4580 towards Oswestry when i spotted a range out of the corner of my eye :-

You can just make out the backstop in the center left of the pic, I saw a few targets get set up and i heard alot of orders being shouted and then the shooting began ( I think it must have been Cadets or military ) It looked like a 100yd range from where i was.

And not to mention the view from there, It was amazing

Anyone know what range this is ?

Steve

E.T.A. the pics where done on my phone, thats why the quality aint all that good.

Near Oswestry you say? Then that was probably Llansilin range then.

Offas Dyke Rifle club shoot there, and I believe it is a 400yds range, cleared up to .338.

Yes it's Llansilin, a 400yd range and as said above firing points in Wales, butts in England.  During the War it went out to 1000yds with the firing points on the hill over the road.

The yellow dotted line is the border, I always thought it was the stream but apparently not.

ETA wouldn't want to meet a 26 tonner coming the other way  Mind you last time I was there a guy brought his Scimitar / Scorpion along that road from Oswestry.

Yeah , it was an impressive machine....He wasnt that keen on my suggestion that we used his Scorpion as a mover for target practice however....
