I'll start by saying this is the first time I've attempted to take down a upper.  I was able to knock out the gas tube pin, FSB pins and take off the muzzle brake.  However, I've been unable to get the barrel nut off as my vice is a wee bit wimpy and I don't yet have barrel blocks.  Today my DD RIS came in and I would really like to get it installed.  Anyone around the Ft Collins area willing to help out a newb?

Wait for you receiver block so you don't damage it. If you were in the Grand Junction area I could have helped you.

Get hardwood and drill it to the diameter of the barrel. Cut it in half on a bandsaw.   There's your barrel blocks.

I have an upper receiver vice block and bolt insert if you want to use it...however, I'm in Denver.

I'm in Windsor and have all the necessary tools. The only time I have at night would be Friday.
