Well, my life's turning to shit lately. Any of you who pray, keep a Dallas, OR family in your thoughts. My best friend went out spear fishing this morning w/his brother in law, and doesn't look like he's coming home. The gas tank fell off the motor, and the boat capsized off the Nestucca River Bar. Guess his brother in law held on to him for over 2 hours in the water before he had no more strength left and they were separated. He told the authorities he believed he was dead when he let him go. Keep his family and myself in your prayers if you would, it would certainly help right now. |

Thanks everyone. Things are really ugly right now w/the situation. Haven't slept yet in 2 days, and all the experts expect his body to be washed up on shore sometime early today. Not much the authorities can really do as far as a search, but we'll all be combing the beach all day again just waiting. They expect he'll surface somewhere within a mile south of where he drowned determined by the tide, buoyancy of a body and everything else that comes into play. Again, thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. This whole event has really put things into perspective as far as how much we take life for granted and how frail it is. Only thing I can get out of this situation is how important it is to tell everyone you care about how much you love them everytime you can as it may be your last. My buddy Derek (the victim) just got married a year ago while in the army to a Phillipino girl who's the sweetest thing in the world, and she's just devastated, they had to admit her to the Lincoln City hospital just to keep her ok/healthy. They just got back to the states as he finished up his time with the military only a month ago, I can't believe he only got a month of being home when this happened! Anyway, his wife's legal status here's in jeoprady here as they were in the process of all the immigration paperwork, and it wasn't anywhere near finished. They were married in a US embassy in Korea last year, does anyone know for certain on what the process is as far as a situation like this goes? Thanks again. Brian |

I appreciate everyone's thoughts. Unfortunately the search was called off last night. The medical examiner who was there speculated his body would was ashore late Saturday night, and we waited it out as long as it took for people to come to terms that he might be gone for good. But his parent's seem to have found some peace w/it all, and that's ultimately what's important. Finding him & bringing him home would have been nice, but things will be alright. Again, thank you everyone for your thoughts and nice comments, it helps to have just a little bit of outside positive reinforcement when you need it most. |
