From someone who has taken the "Ride", id rather be tased than OC'd with sabre red again, that shit sucked so much.

Does it have the "taser cam" like Springfield Police Department does??

I hope not, every drugged up, INNOCENT, douche-nozzle will subpoena the film every time to show officer's excessive use of force.

I think they should just shoot more the mofos.  Complain about being dead you sons-of-biatches.

I am of the opposite position. I want it to have a "taser cam" like Springfield Police Department. So the PD can sell the "Best of the drugged up, NOT-INNOCENT, douche-nozzles getting Tased" DVD.

Shooting the bad mofos is good or issue nightsticks like back in the 1950's and 1960's so the officer can say "I am not an officer using excessive force. I am BATMAN!!!"

I'd buy that for a dollar.

As an instructor, let me tell you what about 85% of that video will show.  Grainy video of 4-6 feet of ground in front of the officer's feet as he is at a low ready.  Lots of yelling, and then about 5-10 seconds of deployment.

Whether you agree or not, one of the aspects of the Taser is it's similarities with firearms.  Those similarities contribute muscle memory, as well as some tactical issues. So, what you have are officers with the weapon at a low ready until they are about to deploy.

I'm not against or for em (cameras), just have a realistic expectation of what you will most likely see.

I review these about twice a month from a variety of agencies so I can say this with confidence and experience

Didn't take the ride...I know what its like from watching countless videos and seeing some of our other officers go through it as well as a live incident in which another officer's Taser prevented me from having to shoot a man with a knife back in August. I get it, it hurts. I'm of the philosophy that I wasn't required to be shot with a 9mm HP round to in order to carry my HK USP or get wacked with the ASP to carry that, so there is no logical reason to NEED to experince the Taser...just the way I look at it.

BTW I have been sprayed with Sabre Red OC...that WAS required to graduate my academy...I would rather take a 9mm to the vest than ever go through OC again.

As for the Taser Cam's, we had one that an officer T&E'd for a bit, but like the above poster said, what you get is not very good video. One of our Captains made the comment that it looked like what happens when you give a 4 year old a camcorder and don't tell them how to use it. We will not be buying anymore of the cameras.

Yeah you didn't have to be struck with an ASP, or a PR24, or shot with a 9mm....
But I think it would be a good experience with any less lethal weapon to KNOW what is being dished out.

Just like Saber Red, CS, CN, and a couple other items, it pays to know what to expect too and to see just how much YOU can take. Now I don't think we need to give you a beatdown with ASP and PR24 nor do I recommend that you have a bunch of guys blast you with Rubber Stingball Shot or Rubber Bullets or bean bags. some stuff would be just DUMB But getting TASED and understanding what it does to YOU will help make you more confident in using it.

Cav Arms used to have a Video of "Rio" being tased...

Air Taser used to have a video of a big bad martial arts dude turning into a puddle from a Taser, There used to be a training video of an actual incident where a drugged up perp was walking down the street naked and the officer hit him with the Taser about 4 times to bring him down, Way back in the Early Taser days there was a story about a PCP user in NY where officers tried to bring the guy down with OC, but no one managed to hose his face, but they got alcohol and OC EVERYWHERE else... so a SWAT dude hit him with a taser and the leads arced lit the alcohol carrier on fire.... in the daylight you can't see the flames... OUCH!

It took two officers at least three Taser shocks and two pairs of handcuffs to subdue a 6-foot-5-inch naked man believed to be on PCP on Tuesday, according to Bremerton police reports.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of Stevens Drive for reports of a 23-year-old Silverdale man with his pants around his ankles and "screaming at the top of his lungs." A man at the scene said the man was "stressing out," had ripped off all his clothing and was "not acting rational."

Only an officer and an undercover detective were on scene. They began to hear fighting inside a nearby home. The officer suspected the man inside was on PCP, noting that two other suspects have recently been found to be on the drug in the city. When the officer said he was going to check inside, the man replied, "You're going to need a lot more officers," describing the man's 315-pound frame.

This is the older Training video I recall seeing

I would not want a taser cam, they are big and bulky. I dont have any room left on my belt as it is now and im trying to figure out how to put a 20 or 30 rounder on there now.

I carry my Taser in a Safariland 6005 drop leg thigh holster...its a nice rig, but is taking some time to get used to...there is also a belt holster option, but I don't have anymore room for it up on my waist. I already have almost no contact between the velcro on my duty belt and underbelt...
