Welcome go to the AR-15 subforum and look for the Build Your Own forum you can collect parts over time and build your own AR for MUCH cheaper than a grand (some reportedly as little as $350-400), and in the process you will intimately know the inner workings of your exact rifle. You can also watch the EE (equippent exchange) here and pick up good deals on the parts needed for your build up. |

Welcome to the boards and the world of black rifles! This is what I would do: Save up some dough, and go to Trents and get a complete lower receiver. He should have a few Bushmasters in stock, and can probably get any other brand you want. That will be ~350, maybe less. Save up some more dough, decide what kind of upper you want (M4, midlength, A4 and more others then you can imagine lol) and watch the Equipment Exchange on this site like a HAWK. You should be able to catch a good setup for ~400-450 If you feel like thats a bit more then you want still, Trent does have some DPMS rifles that are 699 I believe. His factory Bushys should be close to 899 also. |

You just missed the gun show in Memphis. I bought a spikes lower, parts kit, stock and grip for $240 bucks. I second watching the equipment exhange, you can find some good deals there but you have to be quick to get them. You might think about a team membership, sometimes company sale links are posted in the team section. |

So i can just get a stripped lower reveiver and then i can get me a complete parts kit if i am reading this advert right. It says that it comes with the complete upper already assembled and all the lower reveiver parts, would that be the trigger group and the like? I have been looking at some parts on Del-Ton and found a few that i like. I plan on stopping by Trent's this weekend and talk to them about some lowers. I have read most of the thread linked here and i think i should be able to assemble it by myself, if not my dad was army for 12 years. Thanks for the help guys, hope to be infested with BRD real soon. Also, i can get the parts kit sent to my house since it doesn't have the serial number on it, correct. Wood |
Only the lower reciever needs to be purchased from a FFL dealer. For all the other parts for an AR, you can order them shipped to your home or other loc. If you haven't looked yet, read the tutorial in the Build It Yourself Forums under the AR15 tab for help installing your lower parts kit. AR Lower Parts Tutorial
