Just got finished moving and had a question or two about the area. As for shops- Who has the best deals on guns& ammo/knowledable staff? For ranges- For rifle looks like I am going to go to Rio Sal, but for indoor- Caswells or Scottsdale GC? SGC looks like they are a little "uppity", but that does not mean they are good. I still don't want to deal with elitist a$$holes. Thanks in advance!

Don't go to ranges or gun shows, so can't help ya there.

But I will DEFINATELY buy you a beer and a steak if you'd like!

Pistol Parlor and Sportsman's Warehouse in Mesa
Ameetec in Gilbert
Knowledable staff and prices will vary

SGC is airconditioned but too far from Chandler
Caswells uses a swamp cooler so don't go there on humid days and has limited number of bays
You can shoot rifles in both places
I personally hate indoor ranges and don't go to either of these places unless a friend invites me

I usually go to the pistol bays in Rio.  You'll have to be a member and get your card punched but you don't deal with range nazis or unsafe shooters and you get to practice things things you can't do in an indoor range or at the main range.

I went to Caswells and I really like the staff over there. They are friendly and the prices were good. I picked up a Walther P22 OD green that day too! I ran about 300rnds through my SA .45 and my hands were tired so I decided it was time to get a .22, one that I thought looked good with a supressor(when I can afford it). Plus I can afford to shoot it more. I also learned how bad a shot I was at 25 yards... Beer, eh? I like the sound of that!

Wow!  Really?

That is the opposite of any experience I've had with those TARDS.

+1 on Pistol Parlour in Mesa, and Sportsmans Warehouse.

I don't really go to a range for help from anyone that works there. That's why I asked about a shop in a separate Q. I just like that they were nice to me and the membership deal was good. The gunsmith I talked to there seemed like he knows his stuff though.

I usually don't buy guns from ranges, only got the p22 because they had it for under $250. Most problems I either fix myself or send back to the manufacture. I am not afraid to take apart any gun I own, maybe shooting it afterwards... Has anyone been to Guns Etc? I talked to some people and they pointed me there saying that the customer service was good there.

Alot of the guys at Caswells is new.  Bridger(?) is running things over there and the 2 gunsmiths that i know are Paul and Eric,  cool guys.  I like the idea that they upgraded their range to accept rifle rounds now too.  Its easier for me to go to Caswells to test fire my uppers instead of going all the way out to RIO.

You might want to check out Phoenix Rod and Gun Club on the end of end of 7th ave at the base of South Mountain.  We have a 100yd High Power open all the time, and you can generally shoot 300yd most of the time mid week.  500yd practice every Friday.  www.phoenixrodandgun.org

I went to Guns Etc a few months back not impressed with the customer service at all.  Pistol parlor is good as well as the gun showroom.  Gun show room has some great prices but the shop is only open Tues,Wed, and thurs because they do shows.
