Okay, what is the NOVA chapter of the VA ARF society decision on the next build? AK, AR, FAL, HK, ??? I need to plan my purchases and parts orders. FMO BTW DavidP14 is mailing me the screw build video to be burned to DVD, if that has any effect on the decision.. |

geez already? Im not sure whats next for me but I could be swayed by the masses. An AK build would be nice. I've had dreams of an AK74 ever since I shot madhatter's 5.45 krink. Very cool caliber, and its almost as cheap as 762x39. I think AR builds are too easy to have a "party" for, and I havent the first clue about building HK's, but I know they're difficult. It'd be a while before my funds catch up with my dreams, with the Para I just built, the AR kit I'm ordering next week, and the 1911 all on my plate at once, the wife needs some time to forget about all of the $$ I've spent recently.  ...........we could make this a post, post-ban party?? Squib, from what I've researched, AK builds can be done on the cheap (amd screw build ~$250 not incl. tools) or they can be done high class-high dollar (ask mike about his krink's ~$6 or 700 if you don't have it built by a smith ) BTW: the vid goes in the mail today. |

An AK from the flat receiver would be a good thing to try...iirc, Mike said that is much easier than the AMD route. I think he says he knows someone who can band the stamping correctly, etc. I guess the only other tricky part is getting the trunion welded in. I don't know jack about the process, so maybe Mike could elaborate a little. As the price of those flat receivers is ridiculously cheap, I think that fits in with everyone's budget. So that gets my vote...besides, I sold my SAR 1 a while back, so I could use another AK. Regardless, I'll be ordering another FAL receiver within a month, so I'll be ready for the next FAL build...I still have lots of parts left over from this past one lol. |

Sorry I missed the last FAL build, but I am definitely in for an AK or FAL build later this summer. Has any thought been given to scheduling these sessions in say.... late September??? It seems a shame to build anything with a muzzle break at the moment. The AKs with an under-folder would be nice, too. The AWB gig is up, guys - time to start buying the preban kits while you still can! Black Fox |
