I finally got a chance to go to the range today to shoot my new-to-me AR. I went out to Tenneroc in Lakeland. I am used to the hot/cold range thing and the RO's were cool, so I liked the range. The price is about the best in the area ($10 for all day). Most of the people at the range had tactical carbines (AR's, AK's, SCAR, etc). I brought my AR, AK-74, and a Mossberg 500. They have a place to pattern the shotgun which was nice.
I dragged my wife with me because I wanted here to learn to shoot the shotgun since I used the HD excuse to buy it  . I was actually surprised that she really enjoyed the shotgun. She does fine with pistols but has never liked rifles ("too big"), so I didn't think that she would like the shotty at all.
The AR worked great. I got the irons sighted in at 50 yards. I was hoping that my wife would like shooting the AR so I would have a good excuse to buy a M&P 15-22 for her  . She ended up liking the AK better. Once she figured out the range (the battle sights only go down to 100m) she was tearing up the target. She shot it better than I can; I've always hated the AK sights.
