Anyone else get a delay in the past few weeks? Mine was submitted Monday evening by computer and still hasn't been approved. Mine have always been instantly approved with no issue. Anything else I can ask the ffl to do? Isn't there a max time they can delay it?

I believe if they don't get a NO within 3 days, you're good to go.

Frequently happens with no social security number on the form.  Just saying...

I got my first ever delay a few months ago.

I've been buying guns for 16 years and never had an issue

I was completely shocked and felt like a criminal when I got a delay.

The guy behind the counter acted like it was no big deal.

He handed me a piece of paper and told me to pick the gun up on xx/xx unless they call me sooner

I gave my ss#. Always do. I know it has no bearing on anything but I have a ccw and a few tax stamps so it's not like it's my first purchase. They said the other guy that did a tranfer just before me was delayed also. Just super frustrating as this is the first time I've used this shop and I really want my gun. According the to the FBI website it's a 5 day wait if not approved sooner.

NICS has been experiencing some issues ever since a recent system upgrade. The most you will have to wait by law is 3 business days, not counting the day you completed the check.

At the Pittsburgh NRA convention I spoke with some of the NICS staff, they told me the social security numbers aren't as reliable as the descriptors as an insane number of SSN's have have used by criminals - stolen from adults or ever increasingly, young children before anyone thinks of their financial futures.

I got lucky and was renewed just a couple of weeks after the new law passed.  I used my chl today for the fist time to buy a lower receiver.  It was pretty quick

What places use CHL now instead of running NICS? How recently do you have to have updated your CHL?

Gun Envy in Columbus does and the CHL must have been issued on or after 3-23-15.

They all should.  But you still have to fill out the 4473
