I am curious I know how VT runs their state

Will Maine's CC work the same way. Will an out of stater be able to carry concealed without need of getting a non resident permit. Or will reciprocity work where say someone with a NH permit be able to walk from state to state without worrying about whether or not they have a non-res permit.

Don't count the chicks before the eggs hatch fellers!
This is looking good but it ain't done yet..
Wait till all is said & done and the law actually comes into effect to read all the fine print.
Yeah.. I don't care for the amendments that have been tagged on but they can be another battle.
Let's take all we can get with this one & then chew away at the minor shit in another fight.
I'm damned glad we got this far! It's way beyond what we had!
Thanks to all who kept the pressure on your Sens & Reps

I'm an out of stater. New Jersey. We for all practical purposes do NOT have a CCW for lowly civilians, so I'm interested in how this law will effect me.
FWIW I heard La Page signed the law....

The law has passed.  It does not take affect until 90 days after the Legislature adjourns.  Right now in Maine, Le Page is saying that the Legislature adjourned June 30th.  The Legislature is saying they have not yet adjourned.  So, I cannot say for sure, when exactly that effective date will be.

However, the law will apply to any person in Maine over the age of 21, (18+ if military or former military), who can legally own a gun.  So, a person from NJ will be able to CC in Maine after the date the law goes into effect.  However, please keep in mind, that it is your responsibility to safely handle that firearm and to know the laws and restrictions of where you can carry a gun.  While safety training is not mandated in this law, you will be personally held responsible for any harm caused through negligence or accident.

Maybe LaPage is having some fun with the Dems by pulling an Obama?   He is "interpreting" the Maine Constitution to mean something that it has not been interpretted to mean before.  I do not think Dems like having that shoe on their foot.  They are butthurt and complaining about lawlessness.  LOL.. but they have been silent for the past 8 years.
It will most likely be going to the State Supreme Court for the bills he put in his pocket.  For CC, the Legislature is now set to adjourn tomorrow.  They extended it to deal with the vetos they were expecting from LaPage.  But since he has not vetoed anything, tomorrow should be a very short and final work day.  So.. right now... October 15th will be the day of CC in Maine.
