| Someone put me on a good beginning handgun class in the Hsv., Athens, Florence area. I'm not sure if what I need would be called a beginning class or not. I don't want a set down, this is your gun, this is how you hold it, this is how to load it type class. I want some good self defense shooting, draw and fire situational type instruction. I'm no expert by any means and have been around handguns my whole life and shoot well. I just want some good instruction without blowing my money on a class full of people that the instructor has to babysit because they keep sweeping the class. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

I don't know this guy personally, but he is good friends with my hog hunting partner, so I'd start here: Cameron Bucy's Security Defense Solutions etc.
Good luck! |

A friend of mine says this place is good but I know absolutely nothing about it personally.

Can't recommend these guys enough. I've taken several classes with them now, and have been extremely impressed every time. I recommend starting with their Basic Handgun class. Some parts may be a little slow if you have been shooting for a long time, but taking the class with give you an excellent foundation of skills that will carry over into more advanced courses. I have been shooting for a long time, and I definitely gained a lot from the basic class. It was the first time that I had really been exposed to drills, proper presentation, etc. I had watched lots of YouTube videos, and had picked up some things from them, but actually taking the basic class helped me to break some bad habits and learn some good ones. Feel free to PM me if you want to know more, but I really would recommend the basic class, because advanced skills are nothing more than the basics applied at a higher speed. |
