Let's have a conversation on motivation. So you took some training once, maybe it was last week. Proud of you for that. The sad truth is very few take any class unless its mandatory, like for the enhanced permit.

What does it take to get you motivated?

When a bad situation confronts one, wishing you had taken a class is not much help.

Some have no problem paying their hard earned money for their dream weapon. But then, say they can't afford to take training to learn how to run with it. A tool is not much use if you don't know how to use it. Example: if you don't know how to operate a ohmmeter, don't mess with electricity.

Trainers are all over Mississippi, in all price ranges. You can find one that fits your budget and is close I'm sure.

We have all watched the news, there are people in the world that want to kill Americans, there are people within 25 miles of you that would kill you for what's in your wallet for a drug fix. That's just the way the world has gotten.

Don't fall into the trap of a false sense of security because you can hit a Coke can on a pretty day.

Your thoughts welcome, and questions will be answered.

I just took my second two day training course for the year last weekend. Things I've noticed about training is I am pushed to do things that I either don't like doing (because I am bad at them or it is uncomfortable) or things I never knew about. Then when I get back home, I have new things to practice at the range. If anyone is on the fence about getting some training. Just do it. Honestly it is just plain fun to do anyway.

Question for Beau:

What is the most common obstacle you see students having to overcome?

Feeling self conscious. Sometimes it will be 2 or 3 hours into a class before some will finally start to maybe get into a fighting stance for example. Some have done something for so long, like a poor grip and you will correct over and over and over, finally when they see they really are shooting better. Bingo.

This past Saturday was a pure joy, everyone had an open mind and wanted to learn.

Had a private class Sunday, a Dr and his wife. I soon learned why they wanted a private class. I can't do this, there is something wrong with my gun, my finger hurts. These two would have ruined the day for others if it had been a open class.  Even though they were paying good after two hours, I said let me refund your money and we'll call it a day. They wanted to know what was the problem, I told them. I wasn't putting up with all the whining and complaining about the guns. They decided to stop the crap, and actually were doing really well time class was over. So good they ask if they could take the targets home. Then helped me pick up the brass.

Both classes were the Basic Shooting Class as well as the one coming up this Saturday, all nurses.

It's a rough life but somebody has to do it, lol.

Good for you, two classes this year, well done.

The class with the nurses was a pure joy. All got on target and were shooting center mass. They were so excited said they can't wait for the next level class. But they would like to have a bonfire since it's probably going to be cold. Not a problem ladies.
