| Not sure why I've been thinking about this, but I've been wondering where the fallout would go if Anchorage/Ft. Rich/Elmendorf got nuked. I live out in the valley, 49.5miles from Muldoon and just wondered if I should bug out or in. I don't know which way the prevalent winds blow... |
You're too close to worry about fallout. If its a airburst weapon you'd most likely reach 10k degrees in a couple of seconds. We're not talking kiloton (WW2) weapons here, but probably at least 2 megaton weapons would be my guess. Winds blow 240/060 around the bowl. Look at the runways, they are built upon prevailing winds. |
Even with the mountains in the way? |

Depends on where the detonation takes place and the altitude. Thats about all I can say. If you're sheilded by a mountain, you won't be hit by the gamma/neutrons at the burst, but there would be enough debris with alpha/beta contamination laying around. Just a guess but it would make 100-150NM radius unihabitable without proper deconamination procedures for all water/food items. Then you have to include the fallout from the upper level cloud (dust) that forms and that can carry for hundreds/thousands of miles if high enoughin altitude (wind direction dependant). I would move 4-6 hours north if your realy worried-and stock a ton of water filters and food items. None of this accounts for the possible miss distance of the missles/warhead. If it's from over the poles, convetional WW3 from russia, then many say the russian MIRVs wont be that accurate when transitioning over the top. If this happens then nearly everyone will be fucked no matter where you live without a ton of prepositioned decontam/food. |
Well the last one they fired was on its way here to hawaii. Lucky us. |
People may be suprised at some of the targets. Even farmlands and such are targeted, not just cities and military assets. You kill the food you kill the people. Such is also the reason for Prudhoe, destroying the infrastructure destroys the enemy's capability to fight. |
