Now that Oregon is getting some and the portland area I am grateful I have no where to go to be out in it.
I buggered my ankle up something fierce about 18 years ago and now everytime it is going to snow it locks up and hurts like a SOB.. I tell someone it is going to snow they laugh it off and dismiss it.. Portland is in for a decent traffic fucking amount for a couple of days. |

I don't doubt your prediction...heard it before. I'll leave for work early, truck is packed with bug-in food and what not...I'll walk the 5 miles home if traffic does what it normally does in Portland with 1+ inch of snow... Funny thing is I used to tell mom she laughed it off.. until I think 08 shit fest we had. I remember nothing in 09 and told mom in 10 about that late feb snow to get home, she almost did not make it. Funny how that works now she listens. I think you are over the hill from me so you know how screwed the happyvalley fuckfest is with every subaru 4x4 driver thinking it is great fun, I wonder how many cars are going to be stacked up on Mather this time around. |

"it's happening" aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
I5 is fooked down in Albany, yet dry north and south of there. Traffic cams here for those interested..ODOTCams I'm in Southeast Portland at work. Brought my snowshoes, trekking poles, bunch of Mt. House, and a flask...If it snows more the 3" here I'll walk the 5 miles home just to keep away from the folks who shouldn't be out... |

So far only the light wispy stuff and blowing across the ground out here so far. |

Mom made the choice to foot it this morning to MAX to downtown.
She bailed early and I am buttoning up dinner for her as we speak. Picked up some fennel, bell peppers, onions garlic and celery, added in some basil chicken sausage from new seasons. Simmering in a pot with lentils and hot peppers. |

Eta. Better pack an extra tow strap in case any of you BFLs get stuck. Anyone else just gets a friendly wave. ![]() Dash - Malinois puppy in your Avitar? DT |

| Left work in White Sallmon, WA around 13:20, made it home in SW Portland at 15:35. The Gorge wasn't too bad, the freeway was partially covered in dry blowing snow, the big deal was poor visibility. The fun started around MP 13 on I-84 in the Gresham area, then I had to deal with all the mamby pamby Portland drivers. |
|
As expected...I walked most of the way home. Son chained up his car and picked me up for the last mile...
Damn windy and cold out there...I was bundled up but not the face. Little drink at home fixed that right up |

Son (17) drove me over to work through the back roads of Clackamas/Milwaukie, and SE Portland. Got my truck and drove it home...as mentioned, it's not a wet snow so my tires (Schwab Wildcat AT) did just fine. Great experience for a 17-year-old, we were in contact via phones all the way home...
Stay warm my friends... |

I can't believe how much this city is shutting down from the snow. This is possibly the first time I've ever been happy that I ride the MAX in to work! Stay warm guys! Ya know I have never been stuck driving in any weather, I go slow and enjoy it... the over passes and bridges have been a tricky spot for sure, I know in 96 with the ice and windstorm combo we had I was driving an airport shuttle with a 15 min. turn around. I went to the boss and said the conditions call for 45-60 minutes and he did not listen. three other drivers refused or had acidents. Me I just snail paced it and got from point a to point b safe and the folks were happy. It is every god damn dumb fuck above window licker with thier awd and 4x4 who are the real dick heads, not taking it slow and driving like it is dry pavement. In 08 I was 10000% shocked on the amount of shitheels yapping away on thier cellphones or texting while driving in this shit... they are the problem. Ya know that retard video of the mornon pinballing down the hill from a few years ago? ya I worked with him and fucked with him everyday. I think if you are out driving on this on a cellphone you should have your license revoked for a min of 1 year probation of 5 year of no adverse conditions driving period... caught in that year in adverse conditions perma revocked. It a. would save a ton of headache, b. the amount of abandoned cars c. the amount of wrecks. |
| Yeah Im glad I was not "that" guy while I was driving lol. I am not familiar this kind of weather at all as I am originally from central Arizona, I have only been in OR a short while..... As you mentioned above, I just took in nice and slow and had no problems :) I was pretty surprised when I started hearing report of accidents on the radio traffic reports..... |

THis is not typical oregon snow this is more dry lake efffect style ice flakes. Oregon snow is wetter fatter flakes that is like greased owl shit on grease. This next batch might be a bit different. |

12:30 pm Friday...radar shows blue from Wilsonville south...you guys is Salem/Albany getting any new snow at this time? Radar also shows pink...freezing shit... Snowing in Corvallis, yes. I just went out and cleared a path to the mailbox and did the sidewalk again. About 4-5 more inches than when I cleared it yesterday. |

I just got back from Detroit a few days ago. It was snowing much harder there, but things flow far better, as we obviously have a better snow removal system back home.
I'm not having any issues driving my Superduty around, with good treaded Duratracs on them. I was trying to make it lose my rear a couple of times, but it wouldn't squirrel around on me. A school bus slid down a hill nearby my place, and almost flipped from what I was told. It totaled a parked car, which the bus pinned against a tree and kept it all from going down the hill any further. Meh, I like the snow. It's kinda fun! |
