...is next week. There looks to be a few neat things about it, free CCW class, Lars Larson on campus doing his radio show Friday (the 15th) and a raffle for an AR.
Pretty cool right? Then I see this flier:
"Win an assault rifle!"
I sent one of the organizers an email politely explaining an AR is not an "assault rifle" blah blah.. hopefully they'll revise this flier.
ETA although judging by the orientation of that selector switch, maybe I'm mistaken
ETA2: my email and their response
Sir,
I'm on the OSUCR mailing list and I have some constructive criticism about one of the fliers (fullflier2.jpg) attached to the Second Amendment Week email.
I don't mean to sound like I'm splitting hairs here, but an AR-15 is not, by definition, an "Assault Rifle." This is a term the anti 2A folks love (as I'm sure you know) to put on semi-automatic weapons like the AR15, which they do not differentiate from its select fire cousin, the M16.
The second image/flier that was attached looks much better, calling the AR15 exactly that.
Thanks for your time,
Ben762
Response:
Dear Ben762:
Thank you very much for your help and input. You are by no means "splitting hairs" we appreciate any recommendations and comments.
We do realize that an AR 15 is not an assault rifle and it's something that we have had to correct people with as well. The flier that you are referring to was misprinted, the problem we have is that we printed out a large number of fliers before the misprint was caught. It is our error and we are working to correct it.
Thank you for your thoughts and inputs.
Sincerely,/snip
