My wife took her CCW class today and was told that the parking lot exclusion only applies to public parking. The instructor stated that parking lots where students/faculty have to buy permits to park are prohibited to leave your gun in the car.
The instructor stated that it was specifically because they are not open to "any" vehicle as stated in the statute. Anyone ever heard of that? |

I THOUGHT the whole hubbub was about making it legal for students to leave their weapons in their car, in the lot, since they for sure can't take them into their dorm.

Any property set aside for the use or parking of any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, provided the handgun is carried or stored as required by law and the handgun is not removed from the vehicle without the prior consent of the college or university president or technology center school administrator while the vehicle is on any college, university, or technology center school property; 2. Any property authorized for possession or use of handguns by college, university, or technology center school policy; and 3. Any property authorized by the written consent of the college or university president or technology center school administrator, provided the written consent is carried with the handgun and the valid handgun license while on college, university, or technology center school property.See: Okla. hotdog has the correct cite: 12 OS 1277. Look at sections B 1, B 2, and B 5. There are several versions pending, but it should go back to 1 version after 11/1/17.
