Police officer shot
Sorry to change the direction of this thread. I don't know the actual position of the police officer's injury but don't the police officers wear some type of protective vest? Sorry to see an officer, that's just doing his job, get shot.

I was under the impression that they wear stab-proof vests, which have different qualities to bullet-proof vests. It also depends on where he was shot.

It varies from force to force. Pretty much all operational staff are issued with vests, some more stab than bullet proof ( as that's the most likely threat, but each force makes it's own decisions). However, not everyone is obliged to wear it all the time and of course it only covers the upper torso................

The latest reports suggest the policeman was in a traffic car and shot at close range with a shotgun. I don't imagine there is anything practical for a traffic policeman that will offer much protection against an assault so violent. Here's hoping the officer survives, but the sooner his attacker is taken out the better.

Just seen a picture of the police officer shot by that Raoul Moat twat.

PC Rathband has asked that the picture be published  - It's a bit graphic.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1292369/Raoul-Moats-police-officer-victim-releases-horrific-picture-injuries.html

I hope he makes a full recovery from his injuries.  Best wishes to him and his family.....

Hope they nail the bastard that did it soon - seems like he's looking for suicide by cop - sounds like he lacks the balls to do the decent thing and off himself, preferring to blame everyone else for his fucked up existance ......  What a Shithead.

Lets hope nobody else gets hurt....... personally I hope they catch him alive and make the bastard face what he's done and pay for it.

Also just seen a picture of s police officer, with his finger on the trigger of his firearm pointing the gun at a vehicle with two female occupants while condicting a search......

Maybe it's because the idea of pointing a gun at someone seems wrong,  or maybe they are pointing the guns at the boot and the angle in the photo are deceptive - either way - I would not want to be sat in the cab of that vehicle with someone pointing a loaded fireerm at me like that - no disrespect to the officer invoved but I'd rather move my family out of the vehicle if there's a gun pointed at it.

See pics in link below

To me it looks like one officer is opening the boot (holding a ballistic shield between him and the boot), while the officer with the gun is prepared to respond if they find anyone inside with a nasty surprise...

I can understand that.   But with the occupants in the car?

Just made me think that my little boy's car seat would be in the line of fire should there be any nasty surprise.

Pointing a loaded gun at my 2 year old boy is not going to make me best pleased.

I find it hard to believe that with all of the kings horses and all of the kings men, not to mention all of the cheap technology (thermal imaging etc etc), that they have not been able to catch up with Mr Moat if he still is in such a small area.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. Just out of the nick, gets tooled up , now did he have that stashed away for a rainy day or did he have to start looking for one? Then there's the question of communications, has he got a mobile? Is it possible to trace him through that phones signal? To stay low for longer than a week when his base camp and car have been found and therefore no longer usable would be quite an achievement, unless he has someone helping him .

Dogs are not infallible. If it was too long there would be no track and I would imagine that the area was surrounded first before a search which could have destroyed any track. Dogs can also be thrown off by other things........

I think it's fair to say that he's gone about things the wrong way, shooting people and all that, but detached from all the bad stuff good on him for so publicly giving the police the run around. We so easily forget how useless they generally are.
Perhaps a wake up call for the police to get in shape...

Interesting development.

"Despite the tremendous amount of resources currently being thrown at finding Raoul Mout, we have so far been unsuccessful. After discussion with senior police officers and military advisers supplied by 22 Special Air Services Regiment, we have decided that there is only one special operations group who will be capable of tracking down and apprehending Mout. On that basis, we have decided to throw out a plea of help to the airsoft community. Already, elite airsoft units from around the internet are answering the call that they have always known, secretly in their heart of hearts, would come."
TCC Sue Sims, Northumbria Police

Elite Airsofters are already taking the tactical lead on hard target stops

I want that arsehole caught or shot before he can hurt anyone else.  He's a narcissistic prick who is blaming everyone but himself for the mess he's made of his life and he's had a temper tantrum instead of manning up and cracking on with rebuilding his future.

Innocent people have been seriously injured and one has been executed by this prick, and you want him to continue to evade capture ????????  WTF

We've got two entire armies looking for Bin Laden and no-one has seen him since he went to ground...... with all due respect to the police, if someone wants to go to ground they might have their work cut out finding him, and this guy is stupid enough to start taking hostages or hijacking people to get away when they do close in........ I would imagine they want to drive him away from anywhere where he can do more damage.

Well expressed, fcpinternet.  I think it likely that you have summed up the views of most of the members here about such juvenille prattling. One man has died, others have been seriously injured, and this twat thinks it clever. Used to work as a ranger in Kielder and believe me the area where he is loose is pretty wild and remote, if he's slipped the net then the boys in blue will have a really hard job. Unlike the parks in town centres where you can use FLIR equipped chopper to identify a hiding burglar, out in the sticks there are tens of thousands of things called sheep and deer which would make that impossible.

He'll be getting on the train at Newcastle Central Station, perfectly well disguised as a well-spoken elderly female Salvation Army Major with perfect received pronunciation, when the plod inspecting his ticket wishes him 'Good Luck' - he'll instinctively reply 'Why Aye, Canny Hinny, Hawaay The Lads, Stottie Kebab, loads o' chillie, noo onions, I hate them fookin' rozzers, me', there'll be a hail of gunfire, and that will be it.

He's not "from" the BBS Brian, he's from Sussex and I expect everyone on the BBS has exactly the same view as most of us do, wherever their online presence is based.

Notwithstanding that, there will always be someone with a counterview and who has a difference of opinion; irrespective of their reasoning or whether it's a genuine belief or a rather sad attempt at being individual and alternative.

When I used the word "from" I was not asking if he lived in in some geographical location known as the county of BBS. I was asking if he was a member of that forum

Anyway, according to one part of the media, SAS personnel are arriving to assist in the manhunt. Wonder if the "guy from Sussex" has any comments on the lunatics ability to give them "the run around" ?
