| who all on here is participating next weekend? This will be my 1st evolution... |
|
i figure it will be Kerry(Afsoc) and Maybe Mike(Duke) and Erik and maybe Ben(BANO) i dont know. i know Kerry will since he is using my camel back to see if he like them. never been but Larson always works hard trying to convince me to do it. i hope you have fun, everybody i talked to has a good time. | It is amazing how large, yet how small the world is. I actually met Oz and Chris (Al as well) through WW2 Reenacting. I have never been involved with any of One Shephard's activities, but have talked at length with Oz and Chris about it! As a matter of fact, I have a signed copy of Chris's Light Infantry Tactics. |
Good book. No bullshit, all skills stuff that actually works. Can't wait for the book he's working on now, he says its going to be even better. |
Hey, I am handling the USO section now ! Gotta keep those cadets happy and well fed, you know. So they will be back for more ... Steaks dinner out in the woods is my latest contribution ..... |
You need to work on your Donut Dolly outfit Oz... |
Token Air Force Guy #1 checkin' in here! It'll be fun joining the OpFor this go around...from what I heard, I think I'm a permanent addition to the OpFor, with the Marines taking all the BluFor seats. |
AFSOC, my objective is to keep their morale and appetite up .... not to scare them with me showing up in a Donut Dolly outfit ...
|
Could be worse! Being an Insurgent is a BLAST as it were..... |
We? They?... Meh... As far as I know Larsen and I are OC for you guys the "OpFor." BluFor Will Be Captain Smith, and Gunny Knuckles. We may swap at some point but I can't say that with any certainty. Either way I already have the scenario in hand... Interesting! I say, Interesting! |
When do we get this info? |
|
This looks fun!.......................but expensive How many people attend? Its open to anybody? Who runs the game? Somebodys bussiness on their land? You can bring your approved gun and they attach the blank firing lazer thing? What about mags and blanks, do you bring those yourself? I have more questions, but Ill start off easy Thanks! |
From what I read, you can bring your own rifle and probably the mags to use with it, but no outside ammo is allowed. I believe all of the blanks will be supplied. I imagine this is done to ensure that no live rounds get mixed in with the blanks accidentally. The big question I have right now is about the "uniform" required to participate. What manufacturer and color would be required to match everyone else? |
Your leaders are as we speak supposed to be creating an OpPlan which they will need to disciminate, you should have already been issued a WARNO by now I would think. Your scenario should be laid out and I know your leaders have been issued the first Vignette. But when you RV Friday afternoon you will be given your OpOrder, Bring a pencil and paper for sure! As to the costs, the costs associated with the "Student Leadership Program" is NOT open to all comers BUT contact Christopher if you think you Qualify. We do not yet have the MILES gear, but we will by March I am told. Blanks are provided by Christopher to maintain positive control of the ammunition. We will apply the BFA and issue ammunition. NO LIVE ROUNDS ALLOWED ON THE FIELD. |
In fact, every loaded magazines will be checked for live rounds using both the flash light and stick method. I know, this is my responsibility when I am on the ground. NO LIVE ROUNDS IS ALLOWED ON YOU. PERIOD. |
We can talk to Chris about that. Of course Gary, you have my support to join. I like the guys and activities they do here. But the most motivating reason for me to volunteer my time, equipments, and energy in this program is the fact that we are working with ROTC cadets to help them getting better training while having fun at the same time. These young men and women will probably find themselves in combat defending our freedom and liberty not too distant in the future. I would like to think that what they do with 1Shepherd can help them to be better leaders & warriors ..... which translates to higher capability to accomplish their missions successfully, and to bring their men, and themselves, home alive and well. I am not a citizen of this country, but I do sincerely wish to see these young men to succeed in carrying out their duties in the future. I do what I can to help them train .... including wearing an apron and cooking for a platoon of hungry guys. ![]() |

Ozy has it exactly right. The whole point is to get these guys into a few "firefight" situations where there are no consequences for all the things that inexperienced (and even experienced) troops do when the shooting starts. Hell, I've been doing this for years and a couple of months ago I "shot" BaNo. His team swept through an area where the enemy had just been, and I didn't think there were any friendlies there. Friendly fire incidents happen alot and the night battles are just chaos, but there aren't any REAL consequences, and we learn from the experience. So, maybe the first time these guys get ambushed in real life, instead of freezing up and becoming combat ineffective or shooting the wrong people, they keep their heads about them a little better, and maybe we save a life somewhere down the road, indirectly. Or maybe I just really like playing commando. Whichever. |
HAHA, you forgot to put the clown face in there, because you know it hasn't happened yet. |
Or for the AFROTC...give the ability to experience training with a firearm, lol. Butter, Butter, Butter!!! In all seriousness, IMHO the program/training is invaluable and the fact that you have fun while you learn just makes it that much better. +1 on playing commando though |
LOL ..... I'll shoot right back at you with .... Pancake Pancake Pancake !!!! The rifles and infantry stuffs are just teaching tools and platforms ..... what you get out of all these are field leadership skills. At least that's what Chris is hoping for ... |
And I shall counter with "Syrup, Syrup, Syrup!" Oh what a sticky mess! |
dont be offended. In 1Shepherd everyone is an unsafe until thoroughly checked. Even the safety inspector will cross check each other. on the issue of bringing your own weapons ... that is actually encouraged as long as the rifles fit the criteria (AR-type for BLUFOR and 7.62 AK & SKS for OPFOR). In fact, I think there is a requirement for the cadre that they must bring extra rifles to loan to the cadets or students. As college students, ROTC cadets are not expected to buy their own rifles, but encouraged to get their own if financially able to do so. The ROTC program at MU does not have its own rifles. So for these cadets to come and train with 1Shepherd they must either bring their own, or have loaners provided for them. This weekend we will see the biggest FTX in 1Shepherd history. The BLUFOR will consist of the Marine and Navy ROTC cadets from MU, and the Marine NCO in MECEP. Total number: 35-40 cadets & NCOs. Out of this number, only a handful have their own rifles. So how do you get ARs for these 35-40 cadets? Beg, borrow, .... but not steal .... .... from all 1Shepherd cadres or those willing to loan their AR rifles and carbines. Last I look we need to collect some 30+ ARs to equip the BLUFOR. I am going to turn over mine to the Marine NCO in charge of weapon details tonight along with extra sleeping bags and other gears that they are short. Yes, expect these rifles to come home with some marks from being carried in the woods in tactical maneuvers. Of course, the cadets will clean these rifles after the FTX. The loaners are provided for free. |
|
You all should have your WARNO by this time, DO NOT POST THIS INFORMATION MAINTAIN OPSEC!!!! DO not talk about troop strengths etc. This is Compartmentalized information. Do not post this data in the open Forum. We can discuss what has occured after the FTX Endex. Do Not post any additional information. |

Alright, I have to say that my first experince with One Shepherd was a blast...literally. Aside from freezing my ass off on the first night in the OP/LP and during the Regroup/Resupply Sunday morning, it was an amzing experince. I can see why generally you are required to attend a previous event like the STX before going head long into the FTX, but regardless I felt prepared to deal with every situation that arose. For the guys that were there, what did you think of the way things went? Maybe we can get a little OPFOR AAR going? |
Gotta keep those cadets happy and well fed, you know. So they will be back for more ...
(Im not retarded) I only asked about the rules on personal guns and mags..............................................thanks for answering my questions.
