I was set-up at a local Flea Market yesterday and noticed at least four guys that came by my table during the course of the morning that were OCing. All were older guys of 45+ and all were dressed neatly with tucked-in shirts in either shorts or slacks. Oddly enough all but one were carrying revolvers of one flavor or another.
None of the swaggering "look at me" types you constantly read about in GD that folks claim they see, just normal local Joes going about their business looking for deals. No drama, no wives hiding their kids, no OMG. It's good to see that OC is catching on more and more in Virginia. |

I've open carried a few times around hampton roads, and I'm not sure anyone even noticed. Seen a few guys carrying when I have been out and about too. No problems at all.
Where is the flea market you set up at. I've been to go to a good one. The one in newport news was terrible the one time I went. There was one off 17 in gloucester I stopped by one that had some pretty good stuff, but a lot of it was way over priced. |
Used to be some good ones over around Winchester, Harrisonburg, and Front Royal. Haven't been able to go over and check them out though in about 2yrs, as gas is too damn high, plus if your going to the good flea markets, you have to get there at the ass crack of dawn

I don't know about the second part though, it takes an act of god to wake me up early unless I am waking up for work.

Hell when I come over to those flea markets, i have to do a overnighter, as it takes me 3hrs just to get to Hburg, and getting up at 3 am to be at a fleamarket in VA doesn't appeal to me |

There is an open carry forum that's fairly active in VA. http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?130-Virginia
VCDL has a Lobby Day in Jan at the Richmond State House, where hundreds of people open carry during the rallies. |

There was a guy OCing at my apartments the other day while helping his buddy work on the 4 wheeler in his garage. I said something about how it was nice to see someone else open carrying and he obviously didn't hear what I said because he got on the defensive with a "I've got a carry permit, I just don't..."
Me: It's just not as comfortable as open carry, is it? That's when he realized that I wasn't there to give him a hard time, then we BSed about guns, holsters, and off road paths. Then I took off on the KLR. Funny little experience, I thought. |
| I have seen a couple of OCers in VA Beach over the years. But this weekend I saw two in two days. One walking his dog thru Green Run (can't blame him). I drove past him and spotted his pistol tucked into his belt (no holster) and the second guy was walking with his family in the parking lot of Lynnhaven Mall. My wife didn't spot either. I had to point them out as we drove by. I really need to work on her situational awareness |
