The NRA/NSC are holding one of their bi-annual open days this coming saturday (29th)

These are designed to introduce the general public to the shooting sports and cover everything from archery to fullbore rifle, including airgun, shotgun, historical gallery and black powder, to name a few.

If you're not up to anything this weekend, why not come along and bring some friends or family and let them try shooting. Who knows, they might just like it.

Tickets and vouchers will be available from the main office, from 8.00 onwards.

Cheeky git!

Nah, just 'something' about the old Vickers, it conjures up that image of 'Empire' and the days when we really were something special and the Germans knew their place.

Well the open day was a rip-roaring success.
At one point they had people queueing 200yds to get tickets.

We had a trusty band of 14 helpers and dealt with 336 new "shooters" who all enjoyed the opportunity of getting to fire a real firearm.

There must've been over 1000 people registered

Hopefully a good number of these will go on to join clubs and take up shooting.

BTW, you should see the wimminz

As an aside and my opportunity to have a bit of a gripe.....We were supposed to be running the Practical Rifle stand but the only thing conspicuous about PR shooters this weekend, was their absence

You would think that if they really did care about the future of their sport, they would get out of their pits and go along and do something about it

You need to send this to the PR mailing list. It's wasted here as most aren't PR shooters anyway - apart from us ex-PR types who saw the high power light burning bright.

But I feel your pain, we shouldn't have to be the only ones who do this.
It was a good day, long and hard work at times, but enjoyable - let's face it, we all love to talk to people about our sport, and having the opportunity to tell someone new how great you are is a bonus (sorry Mark - ).

ETA: I think some were even listening and believed it!
Fools.

Sit yourself down and let me tell you how great I am

Fixed it for you.

Well, he believes it, and we'll continue to humour him.
