Imagine getting one of these letters drop into your mailbox.... "You just blew $15k" |
Not sure about the actual process, but the Freedom Of Information Act allows you to get the documented transfer history of a specific firearm. No names, just dates and what forms were used. It might take a while, but could save you some heartache. You would probably do this on a prospective purchase, however the seller would probably not be too keen on it since it will take time, and if it comes back bad, he'll be the one holding the bad MG. |

I posted this in the other thread as well. there is an FOIA page on the ATF's website. Your request must be made in writing, and mailed to ATF, Disclosure Division, Room 8400, 650 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20226. You may also fax your FOIA request to (202) 927-8866. |

Seems that having the history of the transfers is going to be required before dumping $10K plus on a MG. The only good thing is, as Tony writes, that most of these form 10 guns were for early MG's and the late models aren't as likely to have been transfered on them (Mac's, Uzi's Colt M16...) What a flustercuck ![]() Write/call your representatives and tell them you believe the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with "sporting purposes" and you'd like to see all laws regarding firearms with the words " sporting purposes" removed from the books. |
