That won't buff out. The scope seems to have survived.

A few years ago a guy at my club (a complete f*ckwit) was reloading pistol and rifle cases at the same time, he ended up loading a .223 case with 24gr of blue dot behind an 80gr bullet. The result was not as bad as pictured (not quite) but every bastard on the firing point knew it when it let go

I have an AR kaboom here at the moment.
Not as bad as the one in the pic, but bad enough!!

Still makes me wonder why none of us ever seem to wear shooting glasses

Funnily enough I was thinking that to myself on Sunday (just because I had a pair of sunglasses with me because of the weather)..  I just couldn't get on with them though.. put my eye too far away from the scope so I gave up. Maybe a scope with more eyer relief needed?

yup that looks broke to me .

I had a member of my last club " dangerous Dave " we called him ,  I was shooting a buntline .44mag and he was shooting a .44mag u/l and said "hay john , try some of this batch I just made , so to be nice I stuffed 6 in the pistol and the first shot went pthist (no powder ) and he called the shot of me 12 o'clock just outside the bull .

I had to use a rover head bolt wrapped in tape and a hammer to get the bullet out , still I am glad I shot that round as I am 100% sure he would have sent another one up after it , he's dead now , thank fuck

Just .22lr and shotgun for me. I think it's partly because my centrefire rifles all have optics and I don't like glasses interfering with my sight picture. My you, I don't use dodgy homebrews either..............

I'm wearing my Oakleys more and more now. They're supposed to be ballistically safe

Had one go on the range a couple of years ago.
Blew the mag and contents all over the range but no one permanantly hurt, luckily.

When we checked the guys remaining homeloads some had only half a charge of powder (IIRC it was averaging about 11-12gns of R15 over the 5 cases that we found were light).

Found the primer under the bent extractor.
