| I'll be heading to Atlanta for the Blade 2006 show at the Cobb center. I plan on carrying but is there anything I need to know? I will be carrying LE ID just incase. Have never noticed no carry signs at cobb before. Thanks |

The only thing that might bite you would be the popo's interpretation of a "public gathering". Georgia law prohibits carrying a deadly weapon at a public gathering. It doesn't apply to private businesses, but I'm not sure where a trade show like that would fall. Could be a grey enough area to cause you a nightmare defending yourself. Personally I wouldn't charge a CCW holder or a credential carrying LEO there absent some stupid incident of some sort. In my opinion, absent exigent circumstances or commission of a crime I wouldn't charge a CCW holder or credential carrying LEO ANYWHERE in Georgia. Fwiw, all of the Cobb PD officers I've known were cool on things like this, especially with LEO since HR218 passed. All the Cobb S.O. guys I've known are even more laid back. I'd think you wouldn't have any trouble, but there's always the chance you'd get an officer that would give you a hard time. Edit to add: I think Georgia has updated the laws since HR218 to allow carry ANYWHERE in Georgia by sworn LEO. However, I haven't seen the update personally. Haven't been in a huge hurry to see it with my own eyes really because as I said above, It would take some serious stuff for me to charge a license holder or an LEO for that bullshit anyway... |
