I live in CT and travel often to Rhode Island to a families private camp ground. I am trying to understand some of the requirements that the application talks about. Is the NRA B-16 Target acceptable? If not where the hell do I get the B-22 (Army-L) target?
What is the RI combat score? Its crazy that if you already have permit from another state that requires you to go through the NRA Basic Pistol Course that you need to go through R.I's own nonsense . |
| RI is a fake shall issue state. If they issue a permit it is based on need. You have to demonstrate that you are in danger because you own a business and carry large amounts of cash. If you say the need is just for self defense they they will determine that you can avoid needing a concealed weapon to protect yourself in Rhode Island by not coming into the state. As stated above if you have the right connections it would be no problem. |
| I live in CT as well, and I do travel into Woonsocket Cranston Johnston providence, etc, from anywhere between 8pm-6am on service calls for grocery stores in shitty locations, and I also work 3rd shift sometimes during remodels at those stores as well. I have my permit in ct, and I have gone over state line and did take precautions necessary for locking it up safely. It's hard when you you don't know where your headed.. Out all night long. Calls range from Bridgeport Danbury CT all the way to Fall River, and New Bedford. I know mass is a different story... But I wonder if could get a ri permit? I'd hate to get denied and then in the future getting another non resident permit or when I move when I get older, if there is a question about being denied a permit, it would have a negative impact on receiving the permit.. |

To obtain a non resident pistol permit in RI, go through a local police chief. They are shall issue. You just need to pick a friendly chief. What town is the campground in? Start with that chief. I just googled Army L target and bought a box of 'em.
As for obtaining a pistol permit in MA, you need to fill out the application, pay $100 per year and go to Chelsea MA twice. Once for the interview and once to get fingerprinted and pick up your permit. In addition, MA has a law on the books that they must give you permit at least equal to your permit from home. Good luck, Medic2RN |

To obtain a non resident pistol permit in RI, go through a local police chief. They are shall issue. Sorry....that was funny.?? Although the statute states "Shall" it also says " if it appears that the applicant has good reason to fear an injury to his or her person or property or has any other proper reason for carrying a pistol or revolver, and that he or she is a suitable person to be so licensed." So its much harder than just hitting up the local police chief, especially since they aren't going to touch an application from out of state for the most part . They will refer the applicant to the AG's office unless the applicant has substantial ties to the community they are trying to apply to. It shouldn't be this hard.
