I know my CPL (North Carolina) has reciprocity in WA. I am here in WA for the long term now and was wondering if I am good until the NC permit expires or am I supposed to get a WA state permit since I am now a resident.

I would apply now that you are a resident.  I wouldn't turn in your NC card at application, as it is legal.  Store the NC after you get the WA permit.  Does NC grant you any additional states?

And if you weren't aware, getting a WA CPL is SUPER EASY, in case that was stopping you.  It is so easy, it blows my mind when I read up on "pro-gun" states that are WAY more difficult.  Many are more talk than they like to admit.

I moved from NC to WA myself. Applied for the WA CPL as soon as I got here. When I did, they didn't even ask for my NC CPL. I carried it while I waited the 6 weeks for the new one to arrive. The only question I had in that time is, if you don't receive the new one in the time it takes to be considered a WA resident, is the NC even valid since you're no longer a NC resident? As I said, only took 6 weeks, so it was plenty fast, but I always wondered about that.

Yeah... WA CPL is more a 'gun carrying tax' than anything else... Kind of like car-tabs for carry... Short form, fingerprints the first time, and pay the fee... Done... 'Hardest' part about it is showing up in person to do the paperwork...

I got mine through the Mill Creek PD the first time.  Took 3 days from the time I gave them the check to when it arrived in my mailbox.

This nails it, If I recall correctly I think theres something in the laws as well saying that if you are a resident that other states CHLs wont work in replacement of a Wa CHL.....its all about the money. Wouldnt want you to get just a Utah and miss out on that $60bucks.
