Is there a law in NY for the minimum overall length of a rifle or shotgun? Thanks. |
| Yeah I know about the barrel length requirements. I'd like to know if there is a law about the overall length of the whole gun. I have a double barrel shotgun and if I cut the barrels down to 18 inches, the gun would be very small. It would look like a nfa short barrel shotgun or "sawed-off". Just wondering if it would be legal. |

Quoted: Thanks Rich. It's a federal law which explains why I couldn't find anything mentioned under NY laws. First to be on the safe side don't cut your shotgun barrels to less than 18.5". Second it is both federal AND NYS law. NY Penal Law |
