Hey fellas, I've got a buddy in PA and I'm trying to find some info
on what caliber & rifles can be used for Whitetail?  I've looked at all the
links available on this PA forum, but I can't come up with the answers?
Our DNR site for Indiana has a PDF of "Hunting & Trapping" regulations.
Are PA residence allowed to use an AR for deer hunting?  Any mag size restrictions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A closer reading of the PA game regs book you get is a must every year now.  Some questions had come up at hunting camp this year and I read much more in depth about what you can use.  When it came to the section on ammo it says you can use a lead bullet or lead round ball (obviously for the muzzle loaders) and any centerfire ammo which uses a bullet that will expand.  It did not specify 22 caliber or larger (I reread this section several times to be sure).  It does not mention specific calibers, only that it be centerfire with an expanding bullet.  Of course it does specify no semi autos for big game, only manually operated firearms.  I would take this to mean that if you wanted to hunt with a .204 Ruger firearm you could as long as it was with expanding tip ammo (no FMJ like some would use on coyotes or others for the fur)
