Well all of mine shoot out of the hole in the end of the long straight bit................. |
Not to put a dampener on this, but with the new competency regs that are appearing, is this not something that can cause problems in the future, especially for match organisers and especially for someone who hasn't signed that said shooter off??? |
I would imagine so. My club doesn't have the facilities to confirm my 200yard zeroes on my centrefires so I don't know how that will pan out..............
|
What rifle/ammunition combination are you shooting? |
200 yd zero only applies to the HME cals ? |
Yes, sorry. I'm unintentionally confusing the issue here. Haven't the powers that be decided it's only the HME cals all this bollocks will apply to and us lesser beings can carry on being as dangerous as we've always been......... |
Not quite. Even if you don't shoot a high-energy cal, all users of MOD ranges have until the end of the year IIRC to pass the competency 'test' and obtain safe shooter certification, or whatever its called. I did mine with my club a few weeks ago. ETA - Page 2 is mine |
Ah, okay, I'd better get a grip on it and find out what my lot are doing..........
|
Then unfortunately this does not count you need to keep you qual current, so it looks as though you will need to be signed off by you club chair or by the NRA to allow you to shoot on MOD ranges (Bisley) next year |
I'm not going to go on to much about this as its already been covered, but you SHOULD only of been certified with the class of firearms you have used in the comps at Bisley, not every class of firearm (unless of course you have used all types) I am running certification at our club on 15TH Nov and I have written our own Competency Course which I know is more than required, but it will help me keep good auditable records for inspection by the NRA and/or MoD. I will only be issuing certificates for Telescopis sighted rifle, Gallery rifle, and Open sighted rifle, purley because these are the only firearms the members have asked to be classified in. HME firearms users once classified, you will have to do a 200 yard zero on aspecified target, if you don't manage the group, you keep trying until you do, every time you use your firearm in competition, unless the comp runs on concurent days.
The NRA cert lasts 6 years, if it expires you need to be re-certified, you could of been re-certified for the cost of £25 before it expired IIRC, you will now probabley have to resit the course |

Again for those who have missed out on earlier communications........ for those who are NRA qualified RCO's you dont need to be certified as you already are ![]() NRA RCOs will only be certified for those types that are on their RCO certificaate. However, despite having all the ticks as well as wins at some of the GR events and a military range qualification I only managed to get optic and iron sighted rifle. The NRA doesn't seem to have all the records of the RCO course. I may need to send it back and with photocopies of their paperwork.
To top that, Martin Farnan's came back with only TR. He's most amused. |

The Organisers reserve the right to add, amend or omit practices at any time, without notice, at their discretion. Targetry in each lane consists of the following throughout :- Fig.11 at 300 yds/m* - Fig.11 at 200 yds/m* - Fig.12 at 100 yds/m* *These relate to the 300yds/m firing point and are adjusted for longer range practices. _______________________________________________________________________ Stage 1:“The Warm Up to Rapids” Rounds req’d:20 maximumTargets will be set to fall when hit Time limit:Approx. 2 minutes totalScoring: 10 pts per hit HPS:200 Target sequence:There will be 3 exposures of the 100 yd/m target followed by 3 exposures of the 200 yd/m target, followed by 4 exposures of the 300 yd/m target. There will be random intervals of approx. 4 to 16 seconds between these exposures. The first exposure of each target will be for 5 seconds with each subsequent exposure of the same target being 1 second shorter that its previous exposure. This sequence will be followed after a 20 second interval by a series of 3 second exposures at 2 second intervals of the 200, 300, 100, 200 and 300 in that order, then a further 20 second interval followed by the same sequence again to end the practice. Start position:Adjacent to the post in the standing “Ready Alert” position (butt in shoulder, muzzle pointing towards the targets with the muzzle depressed 30° to 45° from horizontal. Start condition:(On RO’s command) Rifles in “Ready” condition (charged magazine applied, bolt closed on a loaded chamber, and safety catch engaged). Shooters will adopt the “standing ready alert” position with the rifle butt in the shoulder and the muzzle pointing towards the target. Procedure:After the command to “Watch and Shoot”, on each of their 3 appearances shooters are to engage the 100 yard targets from the standing supported position around the post. In the following random target away interval, shooters are to apply safety catches and then move into the sitting position from which the 200 yard target shall be engaged on each of its 3 appearances. In the next random target away interval, shooters are to re-apply safety catches before moving into the prone supported position from which the 300 yard target shall be engaged for the next 4 exposures. Safety catches shall be applied between exposures. There will then be a 20 second interval during which, leaving rifles on the ground pointing towards the targets with safety catches applied, the shooters will dress into the fire trench and adopt the supported position. From this stance they will engage the next sequence of rapid 3 second exposures at 2 second intervals of the 200,300,100,200 and 300 targets. There will then be a further 20 second interval during which the shooter will engage the safety catch and change to the weak shoulder supported position in the fire trench from which to engage the final similar rapid sequence of five targets to end the practice. Stage 2:“The Triple Ripple” Rounds req’d:20 max.Targets set to fall when hit HPS:200Scoring: 10 pts per hit Time limit:Approx. 2 minutes Start position: Standing supported in fire trench, butt in shoulder, muzzle towards target. Start condition:(On RO’s command) Rifles in “Ready” condition (charged magazine applied, bolt closed on a loaded chamber, and safety catch engaged). Procedure:The shooter will receive an exposure of the 300 yd/m target for 3 seconds, followed by 6 exposures of groups of all three targets. In each group the targets will be exposed at 1 second intervals in random order. Three seconds after the 3rd target has been exposed, the targets will be retracted at 1 second intervals in the same order as they were exposed. There will then be a final exposure of the 300 yd/m target for 3 seconds. There will be varying intervals of between approx. 4 and 11 seconds between these individual or group target exposures. Any number of rounds may be fired per exposure, but no more than 20 rounds may be fired in total. Shooters with detachable magazines are required to perform one compulsory reload at any time during the practice after the first exposure, and prior to the last exposure. Stage3:“The Extended Close Encounter” Rounds req’d:30 max.Targets will fall when hit Time limit:Approx. 3 minutes overallScoring: 10pts per hit HPS:300 Start position:Standing “Ready Alert” (butt in shoulder, muzzle towards target, depressed to 30° to 45° below the horizontal, 3 metres behind the firing point.) Start condition:(On RO’s command) Rifles in “Ready” condition (charged magazine applied, bolt closed on a loaded chamber and safety catch engaged). Procedure:After the RO’s command to “Watch Out”, upon the exposure for 10 seconds of each of the 100, and 200 yd/m targets at 1 second intervals, the shooter will advance to the firing point, adopt the standing supported position around the post and engage each target, nearest target first. A 5 second interval will follow during which the shooter will adopt the squatting supported position also around the post. There will then be a 5 second exposure of the 100 and 300 yd/m targets at 1 second intervals, to be engaged nearest target first. A 5 second interval will follow during which the shooter will assume the kneeling supported position. There will then be a 5 second exposure of the 200 and 300 yd/m targets at 1 second intervals, to be engaged nearest target first. A 5 second interval will follow during which the shooter will adopt a sitting position (not using the post for support). There will then be a 5 second exposure of the 100, 200 and 300 yd/m targets at 1 second intervals, to be engaged nearest target first. A 5 second interval will follow during which the shooter will adopt a freestyle supported position. There will then be a 5 second exposure of the 100, 200 and 300 yd/m targets at 1 second intervals, to be engaged nearest target first. A 5 second interval will follow during which the shooter will adopt a weak shoulder supported position. There will then be a 5 second exposure of the 100, 200 and 300 yd/m targets at 1 second intervals, to be engaged nearest target first. The shooter will then apply the safety catch and, whilst keeping the muzzle pointing forward towards the target, will retire 3 metres to the start line and re-adopt the standing alert position. The previous procedure will be repeated once more. ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ Sunday 4th November at Longmoor ETR Range MATCH MEMBERSHIP CARD & ENTRY CONFIRMATION COMPETITOR……………………………………………………………………………… The above person is a member of the London Practical Shooting Club on 04/11/07 1st Class……REF:……………… 2nd Class……REF:…………….. Please refer to the Timetable for check-in and detail shooting times Please check in at least 30mins before you are due to shoot STAGE 4:“The 600 ET Ranger” Rounds req’d:20 max.Targets will be set to fall when hit HPS:200Scoring: 10 points per hit Time limit:Approx. 4minutes overall Start position:Prone supported on 600 yds/m firing point Start condition:(On RO’s command) Rifles in “Ready” condition (charged magazine applied, bolt closed on a loaded chamber, and safety catch engaged). Procedure:After the RO has given the command to “Watch and Shoot”, there will be a 15 second appearance of the 600 target followed 10 seconds later by a sequence of the 400, 500 and 600 targets at 1 second intervals. These will each be exposed for 12 seconds maximum. After random intervals of between 5 to 15 seconds, there will be a further sequence of the three targets at 1 second intervals, each for 11 seconds maximum with a further random 5 to 15 seconds interval. The same procedure will be followed for a further four series of the three targets, the exposure decreasing by 1 second each time until the sixth and final triple target sequence each of 7 seconds. There will then be one final exposure of the 600 target for 6 seconds. Any number of rounds may be fired at each exposure, but no more than 20 rounds may be used for the practice. Ties will be decided by counting out from the longest range. Stage 5:“The Electronic Happy Snaps Run” Rounds req’d:20 max. Target settings: 500 yds/m target will be “up and hold” HPS:200 400 & 300 targets set to “fall when hit” Time limit:2 minutes overallScoring: 10 points per hit Start position:Standing carrying all equipment 3m behind 500 yds/m firing point Start condition:“Unloaded” (bolt closed on empty chamber, no rounds or mag applied). Procedure:After the RO’s command to “Watch Out”, the shooter will receive an exposure of the 500 yd/m target “up and hold” for 120 seconds. The exposure of the target will be the signal to advance to the 500 yd/m firing point, (rifles carried horizontally in the trail position with muzzles pointing towards the target), adopt the prone supported position and engage the targetry. 10 seconds after the appearance of the 500 “up and hold” target, there will be the first of 10 random 5 second exposures of either the 300 or 400 targets (a total of 5 of each), with intervals of between 2 to 15 seconds between each snap exposure. The disappearance of the 500 target after 120 seconds signifies the end of the practice. Any number of rounds may be fired at each target but a maximum of 5 hits will be counted on each of the snap targets and 10 hits maximum on the 500 target. Ties will be decided by counting out from the longest range. Stage 6:“The Each Way Runner” Rounds req’d:20 max. Target settings: 400 yds/m target will be “up and hold” HPS:200 300 & 200 targets set to “fall when hit” Time limit:2 minutes overallScoring:10 points per hit Start position:Standing carrying all equipment 3m behind 400 yds/m firing point Start condition:“Unloaded” (bolt closed on empty chamber, no rounds or mag applied). Procedure:After the RO’s command to “Watch Out”, the shooter will receive an exposure of the 400 yd/m target “up and hold” for 120 seconds. The exposure of the target will be the signal to advance to the 400 yd/m firing point, (rifles carried horizontally in the trail position with muzzles pointing towards the target), adopt the prone supported position and engage the targetry. The 400 “up and hold” target may be engaged at any time during the practice. 10 seconds after the appearance of the 400 “up and hold” target, there will be a snap appearance of the 200 target followed 1 second later by the 300 target, each for 5 seconds and set to fall when hit, followed by an interval of 5 to 15 seconds. The procedure will be repeated four times further for a total of five pairs of snap exposures. During each interval the shooter must alter his position to engage the next pair of snap exposures from the opposite shoulder. After 120 seconds the 400 target will be withdrawn and will indicate the end of the practice. A maximum of 10 hits will be counted on the 400 yds/m target. Ties will be decided by counting out from the longest range. |
