Sec of State is no longer sending out license plate renewal forms. It is up to you to check your own sticker. SIL got ticket the other day for expired sticker, cop said they weren't sending them out, tough.
I HATE THIS STATE!!!!!!!! You would think, out of the $100+ they get each year out of each registration, they could spend just under $1 to send me a frickin card. BE AWARE!!!!!!! |

I've always been able to remember when my plates need to be renewed. If you can't remember, write it on your kitchen calendar or put it in your phone calendar. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Wife's car, my veh. P/U truck, M/cycle, trailer. 5-ton... Notices were handy, get's a little confusing. |

Well you should watch the news on TV it has been reported. My plates don`t need to be renewed until June the budget issues should be fixed by then. News on TV=nearly always "local" stuff (since I live 40 miles from the closest station), usually less than 5% of program has any bearing on me at all. Got really bored watching, and usually doing something outside during early eve broadcasts. A written notification to all addressees would have been much better, IMO. |
| License plates are statewide. I live 45 miles from Chicago and watch news in Chicago and when they talk about things effecting me like anything statewide or national then I listen. But this has been reported several times that I heard about, but I think this issue will be fixed by the time I need my plates. |

I don't have a problem with it, because I look at the back of my vehicle when I get in it to drive somewhere.
Sending expired registration notices is a worthless endeavor for a lot of people, because they put them on the kitchen counter or refrigerator and never open them. They find out their sticker has been expired for 3 months when they get stopped by the police. The Secretary of State should consider an auto dialer that calls your home telephone to remind you, texting or notification by e-mail to save on printing and mailing costs. |

"People can still get notices by email if they register online. They need to do that through the secretary of state’s website, cyberdriveillinois.com. Those people will also have the information needed to renew their license stickers online." That's from the linked article in the first reply. And here is where you do it: https://www.ilsos.gov/greenmail/ EDIT: Oh, that's not just a "register your email" link, that's a "renew your registration" link. Sorry about that. Well, if you remember to renew, use that link.
