Picked my PSL up from Marty

Neat gun, and that glass is pretty dang nice!

I do have a bitch and that is the fucking hand guard is not only ratty looking(at least that is fixable if I had the desire to) but it has a crack the size of Texifornia

Anyone know where I can get a new handguard?

My plan was to refinish it with something that'll do better in our climat than the paint thats on there(and when I say paint I mean it.. it sure is thick).

Uh oh.....if you look real close, you can see why Jonathon likes it so much.  And it's also probably the reason it's cracked.  ......

Ya gotta look real close like........

The lug has the ears milled off

I would LIKE to get a US made muzzle device, US furniture, a new bayo lug, and put the RSA trigger in it.. but the furniture and the bayolug would be the hold up

Does the PSL use the SVD style dovetail or the AK style?

Hey call those bastards up that sent it and have them send you a new forearm...It was in a padded rifle case with no damage to the cardboard around the case, so it was busted when they packaged it...

Yup, they are taking care of it. That is what I told the fellow I spoke with(no damage at all and that plastic case would've shown it).

That shipping method was pretty hokie

They're great guns for the price and the "cool" factor.

I put a little elbow grease and time into mine (along with some new glass).

Here's the finished product:

That looks cool

What scope is that? And how did you do the the wood?

The lacquer on the furniture is applied pretty damn thick.

It takes a fair amount of time to strip and sand the wood clean...

Once you've stripped and cleaned the wood, you're good to go.  For the finish, I actually used aerosol bed liner material.  You have to make sure you mask the areas that have to fit into the mounting spaces on the rifle.  I actually applied 2 coats, giving dry time in between.  The final dry time should be a minimum of 24 hours, longer if possible before handling.

Oops... forgot about the glass.

It's a Soviet POSP 6x42D PRO.

It's got an independent focus and a illuminated mil-dot rangefinding reticle.

Definitely an upgrade over the stock optics.

Yes, that is Mount Hood in the background

Another picture of my new gun.. probably one of my favorite rifles to shoot now, even more so than the Garand I ran another 200 rounds through it this afternoon, sighting it in and then plinking at cans. Runs like a top other than occasionally hanging up feeding the second round in the mag, but just pulling the bolt back a bit and releasing clears that.

Recoil is fairly light(to me anyways), seems to be less than a normal AK, but it is heavier and it does have that funky brake thing on the end of the barrel(if that is even a brake??).

Video coming as soon as it's available...

I will give you another one for the Garand, and throw in 6 mags.

ETA: You might look at the mags for the feed problem, plus you best load them right or you will have all kinds of grief.

Garand is still 2nd with the AR15 and AK's in hot pursuit, so no dice That and good GI garands are getting harder to find now

Mag seems okay.. cartridges only go in one way. I cleaned the crap out of it last night and it still does it.

Here's one of the video's I shot..  I really need to focus on my trigger control(slapping it a bit). That's what practice is for and I've got another 9k of this Polish shit
