In the NJFOS thread I've posted about Butch's and Point Blank being targeted by NJ for selling ammo and mags to undercover investigators without asking for ID. Apparently it's been the "law" to do so since 2022. Here's a Garden State Guns thread about it. NJ AG has made it clear you will need to show an FID or PPP or PTC to purchase ammo or magazines as per P.L. 2022, c.56, N.J.S.A. 2C:58-35 ("Section 58-35"). There are still some that do ship to NJ when you email them your driver's license and FID but I won't post them here for obvious reasons. He'll never admit that Bruen and shall issue ccw had any effect on the decrease in shootings. Instead he'll go after NJ FFL's for legally selling gun accessories. On Black Friday my daughter had to show her FID when she was buying a Holosun optic as a gift for her husband.

Platkin today announced the court-ordered settlement of a civil lawsuit against licensed firearms retailer Point Blank Guns and Ammo LLC for repeatedly selling gun-related products to undercover investigators without the buyer demonstrating that they could lawfully possess a firearm. The settlement enforces the Legislature's July 2022 requirements for the sale of gun-related products codified at N.J.S.A. 2C:58-35. As part of the settlement, Point Blank agreed to comply with the law and pay costs of bringing the complaint. "I will not tolerate lax and unlawful practices by firearms businesses the very kind that can lead to a deadly mass shooting," said Attorney General Platkin. "Our Legislature and Governor put these laws into place to keep us safe and they must be followed. We are glad that Point Blank has agreed to follow the law going forward." The consent order further outlines and defines the parameters for a valid firearms card or permit. In addition, Point Blank agreed to: Ask for a government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license, if a potential buyer presents a card or permit that lacks photo identification; Keep records for all sales of gun-related products detailing the verification means used for each sale and, for three years, transmit those records to the SAFE Office; and Pay the State $2,500 for the Attorney General's costs of bringing this lawsuit. njoag.gov |

Court Judgement Against New Jersey FFL Could Require Background Check for 'Any Gun-Related Product' An injunction issued by the New Jersey state superior court could change the entire landscape for how gun-related products in New Jersey are sold and has massive implications for privacy. The judgment requires the business to " establish, implement, and enforce, without exception, procedures and business practices that are reasonably designed to prevent the sale or distribution of any gun-related product to a person prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or federal law." The injunction is potentially devastating to the business, as customers are unlikely to want to have their accessory purchases tracked by the state, or are simply unwilling to be bothered with the hassle of producing an FID card for de minimis transactions.
