Hi eveybody, I took my permit class today and have everything I need now to turn in my application to the sherriff's office. The one thing is that I have 17 days untill I turn 21. As I read the law, there is nothing restricting me or the sherriff from filing or starting the process at this time. The law states that I must be 21 for the sherriff to issue me a permit, but not to apply for one. Since the sherriff has 30 days to issue, that'll save me 17 more days of being a sheep. Has anyone tried this before? Thanks BTW, It's Beltrami County if it matters. |

Call the sheriff's office. Ask them. Yes I know, they are not the best source of information on laws, but since they will be the ones processing the permit at least you can get a general feel for their attitude towards issuing permits on applications received before the applicant is 21. Barring that, I would also wait. Best to avoid the headache. |
