I'm heading over to Kansas within the next couple of weeks with my brother, my dad, and my nephew for a pheasant hunt. I'm hoping some Kansas members can enlighten me on what to expect. How's the pheasant population this year? Will the hunting be good? To let you know, we're probably going to hunt in Smith County (my dad has some longtime friends that live there), but if you've got the "inside scoop" on better hunting in other counties, I'm listening. Also, any general info about the area would be appreciated. Thanks. |
| I live near DC, some have reported 4 hatches of birds this year. The bird population this year looks excellent. Driving the roads, the numbers have been unbelievable. Several guys walking the CRP patches next to milo, corn, wheat. This is probably your best bet in late morning to mid afternoon. My partners group (30 friends and fam members) limited out the first day by 2pm. They are some die hard bird hunters with some really good dogs. Good luck. |
