| It has been 4-5 months since I applied for a pistol permit and about 2-3 months since I was requested to redo the fingerprints due to the first set being illegible (very common in my town the second officer told me). I have not heard anything since. I'm thinking it's time to appeal but who should I appeal to? Is my original application date the date I should work off or the date I had to go back to redo the fingerprints? It's quite clear that there is a delaying tactic going on here. I have encountered so many people who had "unclear" or "illegible" fingerprints who had to go back and redo them. It's almost like they don't want us to have guns... |

They're fucking with you. It's something they do to a lot of people. The only people I've seen who get their permits in CT super fast are state workers, environmental workers, other people in which the state believes have "special" jobs. Got my permit a long time ago. Had to go back and do the fingerprinting 3 times for the same reasons you and many others claim was the reason! The whole town permit process after I turned the application in took 2-3 months if I remember correctly because of all the bullshit/games and the fact that they were dragging their asses. |

yes, appeal immediately. use the date that you originally submitted your application.
To file an appeal, follow the instructions at this link: http://www.ct.gov/bfpe/cwp/view.asp?a=1252&Q=254192&bfpeNav=| You would be using the process listed for the 8 week delay. Be sure to fill out the questionnaire as well, and you MUST send in the appeal letter and questionnaire together in the same envelope to ensure you get on the list and also prompting documents to be sent to the issuing authority. You will also want to sent it Certified Mail. Also, for the 'driving record' portion, the board has previously determined that information to be irrelevant, so you may leave that section blank or simply put "N/A". I personally suggest putting "N/A" in that field so you wouldn't be submitting an incomplete document due to it being blank. Chances are you'll probably receive your permit before the actual appeal hearing, assuming you are eligible. If this does occur, you absolutely must notify the BFPE immediately upon receiving your permit so they can cancel your appeal and allow that time slot to be used by someone else in need of an appeal. Even in the rare chance that they issue your permit the same day or day after you having mailed out the letter and questionnaire, you still need to contact BFPE to let them know you mailed the information on [approx date] but that you have received your permit now so they know not to start your appeal when they get your documents. |

I'd give them a call. Paperwork sometimes gets ignored if someone is sick or on vacation. They are overwelmed right now. There are hundreds of people getting guns and permits weekly.
Thread shift What are the Pistol Permit numbers at? For example my permit in 2009XX. |
| Most PDs have only one officer on one shift working on these. Before the shit storm that was OK, but now they're slammed and really backed up. I would say call them and just ask what's going on cause its been a while and get a sitrep from the , if your annoying maybe they'll process it faster |

My wife and I had waited 12 weeks for my permit. They pulled the same "illegible prints BS too" after two weeks. I called the resident troopers office and was told they had nothing and the state was backed up and it might take another few months. I filed our appeals and the state signed for them on Friday 5/10. I received the certified mail card on Monday 5/13 showing that they signed for the appeal letters on 5/10. On Wednesday 5/15 our permits arrived in the mail. They were post marked Tuesday 5/14. Coincidence? I think not, more like they were dragging their feet and using "the we are overwhelmed" as an excuse to delay, perhaps holding them past the 90 day window for an appeal.
Now we just have to go to Middletown to get our permanent permits. Anyone been there lately? What is the wait time at DPS? |

Be polite please They do pistol permits , bail bondsman, fire marshals and all sorts of other crap. It is a crap shoot, sometimes you waltz right through the process , some days the lines are long. You will go through a metal detector so empty your pockets in your car and bring your own pen (I remember some form you had to fill out there and only a couple public pens) I believe first time you need birth certify or something to prove citizenship |

Over a million permits? They must be still counting people who had their permits revoked and people who once had their permits but have already passed away. Probably the number of every carry permit ever given out in CT. The number you see thrown around is 175,000 pistol permits. Still, that 5% is one in TWENTY people you see every day. I know not everyone with a permit carries everyday, but I really can't say I have ever noticed someone carrying outside of my group of friends. |

The thing about the 5% or 175,000 permits number makes me wonder a bit though, on how many of them are actually freedom loving pro-2A types of gun owners. What I mean by that is I bet a good % of the state's permit holders are liberal "special job" or "elitist" types who feel only they should be allowed to own guns. |

I know of one person who has a pistol permit and shoots fairly often yet is a huge Obama fan/supporter. It is amazing to see the cognitive dissonance they have. There are times when I truly believe that progressivism is a mental disorder. Other times I think its just pure evil since it has been used to brainwash so many otherwise normal people. |

My wife and I got our permits today in Middletown. Ours numbers are 1,031,***. The line was about 45 mins or so. Wow over a million! Mine was issued 30 years ago when I was 21. That's 30 years of biting my lip so I never loose the freaking thing. My lower lip is bit clean thru the last time I looked in the mirror...
