I was born right here in East TN. I consider myself to be a good southern boy (a southern boy of 40 that is) and try to treat everyone with respect. Is it just me, but do you have to be a cocky, smug, close minded asshole to work a gun counter now days? I have been to many shops in the E TN area and the attitude of "I work here therefore I am a gun god" is almost an epidemic. The best treatment I have ever received in this state has been from the Reloaders Bench in Mt. Juliet, and to date is the only shop I will go into regularly eventhough I have to drive 1.5 hours to get there. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yea, Outpost Armory in Mboro are a bunch of ballsacks, On Target there has 1 new ballsack there but most of the rest are ok. Next time you go to Reloaders Bench tell Larry he dun purty good for a boy from Rocky River!

A big +1 for Reloaders Bench.

I live ten minutes from it and drive past there every day to and from work.

Larry and Ben are great guys.

I went in there a few years ago looking for a S&W 340pd. Larry said he didn't have one in stock...but he did offer his own carry gun to me at a great price.

I stopped going to the most popular LGS here in west Knoxville due to this.  Only one guy there I could stand talking to. I think the job just attracts a lot of people who think they know everything.

I go to Gunnys range in Maryville a lot now and don't encounter the bad attitude there.

You need to make a trip to Mike's Gun Shop in Tazewell. It's well worth your drive and you will not be disappointed in the people, price, or selection.

I live about 5 minutes from there.

Benton Shooters Supply have pretty good guys, IMO. Granted they're Fudds, but they're nice fudds. Cute girls at the checkout too.

Not been too impressed with the Opry Mills Bass Pro guys but they weren't rude.

Guns & Leather in Greenbriar were pretty decent (before they burned [the shop, not the guys ] ). I hear they're hiring new staff for the reopening, so who knows?

Its not just behind the counter. How many times have I seen smug and cocky assholes in a gun shop or even at academy. Everybody's gotta be a bad ass in this culture for some reason.
