Hi, Greg Sullivan (Sully) of Defensive Edge and I are conducting a series of polls in the Tactics & Training Forum. The object of which is an attempt to gain a better understanding of why many firearms owners do not enroll in formal training courses. Please visit the Tactics & Training Forum to vote. However, we ask those who are not at least 18 years of age to refrain from voting. The reason being is that 18 years of age is the minimum age whereby one can sign a *hold harmless, release and covenant not to sue* which is a requirement in most training courses. You're participation is very much appreciated. Thank you. |

TonyF- Why not require a parent or guardian to attended classes with children? I have been taking classes at Front Sight, and they have this section on there release forms. I have been in a rifle class with a young girl about age 12, that did great. I have also been in handgun classes with a young boy about 14 (he has missed the Handgun Combat Masters test by 2 points). Make it a great day |

I voted. Personally, I would like one day courses. Two to three days can be a little much for me, esspecially with the hectic scheduling and all. Not to mention, I personally get bored if I am forced to do it for too long of a period. Sometimes I just want to golf for nine holes. Many of my trips to the range are "hit and run". That's a personal thing though, but I know a few people who would do something like this with me if we could convince our wives to let us go for one day as opposed to two or three days. Just a thought. |

+1 on the 1 days, reason being family. I've been to 3 different classes, 1 4 hour, 1 8 hour, and 1 2 day. I enjoyed them all, and learned quite a bit. However, i've got 2 little 'uns at home so it's hard to leave the kids behind with the wife, while i get to play guns And for other Nevadans, we have fine instructors in town that will tailor classes for us--be it 1 or two day, or 1 week long. There are also instructors that are willing to come to town as well. Last February, Andy Stanford taught a 2 day pistol class (www.opstraining.com) at Boulder City. We have the training opportunities available, and if others are up for 1 day classes, let's get it going! |
