I might have an opportunity to move to your state.  I'm not sure of all the many gun laws you have, so I'd like to get some advice.  Am I allowed to bring in my AR-15 with me?  I don't think I can bring my "hi cap" magazines with me.  Also, am I allowed to bring my handguns into the state?  And finally, do I have to register these guns once I get there?

You can bring the AR-15 and the handguns, no registration or licensing needed. The AR15 will likely need to be modified to be legal: it cannot have a flash hider, barrel threads, bayonet lug, or collapsible stock. No mags over 15rd. I'd highly recommend applying for a firearms purchaser ID but you are not required to have one.

Where in NJ will you be working? Most of the state is within reasonable commuting distance from PA which is the polar opposite of NJ with respect to gun laws.

If you want to work in NJ, you are better off living in PA where you can keep all your toys.  No >15 rounds per mag, pinned ar15 stock, no flash hinder, no bayo lug, no threaded barrel, must be a pinned muzzle break, no NFA and no CCW.

The move might be to Red Bank.  Looks like I'll have to leave my Colt SP-1 with a relative, because I won't modify it.  Thanks for the advice!

Unfortunately you will have to leave it with a relative. The Colt SP1 is one of a handful of guns that is outright banned and illegal to own even if modified. See page 2 of this PDF for the complete list: http://www.njsp.org/info/pdf/firearms/njac-title13-ch54.pdf
Most of the guns on it are rare and obscure.

It better be a huge increase to even be worth it.

Average Property Tax Bill for RED BANK (2011)  $6,909.85
Plus higher real estate prices
Minus any gun rights

Never modifying anything you might be picking up later in a better move to a better actual USA state.

If you are going to be living here for a while. You will have to get a NJ driver's license, and register your car in nj.
Most cops are a-holes here and will start issuing tickets for not changng you DL and registration.  And since you will have to do that,
apply for your Firearms ID card  and a couple of handgun permits. You won't be able to carry it here, but those A-hole NJ cops will protect you.

You will be able to buy NJ compliant ARs and AKs. Or maybe a Sig 556.  If the cops discover you have guns with out the ID card
they can confiscate it.  In NJ firearms are considered illegal until you can prove you can legally own them.

I hope the job is worth it for you.   At least the food is great and the girls are easy.

Hey cops here are at least nicer than Philly meter maids. But if you can live it PA it is nice, try New Hope, I hear it is a nice place... had some DOC instructors spend time  there

What do you do for a living because if your current job is in Kentucky, I'll apply for it yesterday.

Sounds like you pissed off one of the "higher-ups" at work.

Moving to NJ is more of a punishment, than opportunity.

If you really want to take the job, suck up the hour + commute and move to PA.  As a former NJ resident I can't say strongly enough, don't move there.  Especially if you are used to KY.
